I need to go to dnd prepared better. We had three whole new people and I was floundering with 7 different people interacting and chatting at the same time. I need to like make a person chart or something, and probably figure out a better indicator for when I'm speaking in character v ooc.

Stayed up late last night just to start transcribing my dnd notes into a character journal and got about halfway through. And just now I am remembering I did not take notes for like half the sessions I attended at the start and now there's critical comedic lore that I'm missing from what I've written up so far. I am taking this opportunity to make it seem like my character is embarrassed by what happened and refusing to acknowledge it.

Always excited to get actual personal emails (not work or career emails that send me into freeze responses). My DM sent over a two page email on options for my character's backstory. I joked last week that my rogue is the edgy OC middle school me would've dreamed of (humanoid trafficked into a simic lab for dehumanizing experiments a la Hohenheim). DM insists it's (rogue is undecided on gender) a fun sandbox, hence the 7 different options he sent for explaining my character's incompatible-with-our-campaign Ravnica origin. My honest response to this email was to vibrate in place with excitement over these options. Do you know how wonderful it feels to do character building in conversation? The whole kicking my feet thing booktok and bookstagram loves to say for cute story moments? That's the feeling. Whole hearted commitment and earnestness in the pretend sandbox feeds my dopamine receptors.

We had a cool new person join the party today and it's actually really fun to help someone just jump in for their second time (which was me two years ago w a different party). I'm really glad it wasn't a combat session too because that was my experience every time joining a group and it was hard to gauge personalities each time. Idk if it's something related to how we are telling the story moreso than rolling dice in a strict initiative order and that's a lot to keep track of the first time.

My DM and party are feeding my ego too much by laughing at my character antics and not being too annoyed when we accomplished nothing as a result. Spent the entire session with the party committing to the bit when my rogue decided to construct a stretcher to transport the sleeping artificer so they could get their long rest. Made so many good rolls on construction and then completely whiffed the strength check for transportation so the artificer did in fact get dropped, take damage and an exhaustion point. At one point the DM just turns to the side wheezing out "this is brilliant" while making his notes.

DnD party finally made it out of the kobold lair and actually finished combat, so finally got to do some RP. Immediately made my guy wade in the water for tadpoles while plot happened. Also started bullying the most successful mage party member. Which coming from my rogue who keeps missing saves and actually said NVM about all that to disaster, is funny. Especially because what I'm needling him on his fire first forget info behavior while I'm only contributing deductions.
