The Libra man approaches life like a painter would a blank canvas. No matter what he does, he feels empowered to create a world based on his idealized visions of life. 

The symbol for Libra is the balance, reflecting how the Libra guy sees life as an eternal optimist. He’s always brainstorming ways to improve things for everyone. But he doesn’t quite get that looking at life through those rose-colored glasses will just lead to more letdowns.

Libra is the cardinal objective masculine sign ruled by Venus, the planet associated with love and beauty. This is evident in the way the Libra man presents himself as the provider of all things related to Venus - love, grace, beauty, art, balance, and harmony.

Libra is also associated with democracy, another one of the many Venus ideals, which sees power being spread out evenly among the citizenry. This is a great interpretation of the Libran motto "we are,” showcasing the concept of balance where power is shared fairly through votes among everyone. 

Apollo perfectly embodies the Libra man. As the god of light, he represents ethical strength, which is a clear reflection of a Libra's nature. But remember, light creates shadows too, and interestingly, the ancient Hebrew counterpart of Apollo is Lucifer, which translates to "light-bringer." He tried to take the Sun god's power to share it with humanity. Eventually, he was labeled as Satan in biblical lore, a figure that also connects to the darker aspects of Libra, much like Apollo has his own shadow side. Python, the god of the pit, is often referred to as the inclusive Apollopython.

Yet, it's frequently Scorpio that tends to represent this underworld essence because, as astrologer Dane Rudhyar has said, signs react to the over-the-top traits of the signs before them. And for sure, as I’ll cover in my Scorpio post, Scorpio in many respects symbolizes a reaction to Libra’s famously dreamy perspective on life.

Most people, however, are drawn to the principled and artistic way Libras see the world. Even if it sometimes appears somewhat fake. 

Libra, as the natural ruler of the 7th house that embodies harmony, equality, cooperation, and agreement, sees order as the main focus.

For Libra, establishing order is definitely the first thing on their agenda.

He just can't stand the darker, more chaotic (you know, subconscious) aspects of life. Plus, he totally loses it if a pipe leaks or if someone messes with his plans. His attention is on those ultra-conscious ideas that can be understood or imposed on the world to promote progress. To him, anything else is just self-indulgent moping.

So, the world of light, covering everything from what we can see to deeper, enlightened thoughts, belongs to Libra.

He approaches other people's problems with a snap-out-of-it mentality. Just as he usually disregards his own darker emotions. However, his strong focus on the sunny side of life might lead to a bigger shadow, suppressing negative feelings that will inevitably need to be confronted.

Libra enjoys basking in the daylight world, which is often about appearances, and he never feels the urge to limit himself to just one interest, especially in the liberal or fine arts.

Furthermore, given the extensive artistic fields inherited from his patron deity, he usually demonstrates abilities in a variety of areas - the word talent is derived from the Latin term talentum, aptly meaning "balance" - without having to concentrate on a particular specialty.

This laying claim across various fields frequently raises eyebrows, earning him a reputation as a dabbler or a lightweight.

To him, the medium through which he channels his talent is of little importance. He perceives everything as poetry - whether in writing, music, painting, dance, decorating, or design. 

Lyricism is at every Libran’s core. 

He is filled with ideas that enhance beauty, harmony, balance, equality, and true love in human life.

When John Lennon (who was a Libra) sang “all you need is love,” he may not have realized just how Libran he was being. 

At its core, love is a form of appreciation that Libra radiates in all directions, valuing each experience in three distinct ways:

First, he evaluates what he comes across;

Second, he highlights the positive aspects, concentrating on and bringing forth the inherent goodness in every situation,

Third, he enhances circumstances, ensuring they are significantly better than when he first encountered them.

In a way, the Libra guy is like a concept: The Scales is the only non-living symbol in the zodiac, while all the others are either human or animal. He embodies his ideals so much, those principles that shape who he is, that the strongest traits of his personality are usually all he reveals to others.

Libra is all about building character, which means having strong principles and also developing a unique, sometimes quirky persona; these two aspects usually come together to create one big, vibrant personality.

Some people might think that the Libra is fake, superficial, or even plastic, concealing his true self behind a crafted persona to keep others from seeing who he really is. But for the artist of the Zodiac, there's nothing wrong with creating oneself.

The mirror-like symbol of Venus represents how a Libra can view themselves, much like admiring a piece of art, allowing them to make adjustments to their persona as they deem appropriate, highlighting the good while hiding any flaws.

He hides the pain of feeling inadequate, since the 7th House represents strong personality traits, which also brings attention to what one is missing. This selective view of oneself leads to a lot of psychological suppression, which is deeply tied to his upbringing in childhood.

He usually comes into the world with parents who argue a lot, or at least grows up during a phase when they're not getting along.

Since he was a kid, the Libra man has felt like he doesn't quite fit in. His parents, recognizing his extraordinary imagination, lively personality, and playful nature, might label him as "special," but more commonly, he is just seen as "different" or "weird."

As he enters his teenage years, he starts to feel like he can't keep up, particularly in terms of physicality, with the jocks who are catching the girls' eyes.

Interestingly, he might see himself as a well-rounded mix of both traditionally masculine and feminine qualities, constantly having to defend against the criticisms targeting his apparently ambiguous sexuality.

Even the straightest Libra on the planet will have his sexuality questioned by the more simple-minded cookie-cutter population of the world.

Keeping with this Galatean analogy, Libra is attracted to statuesque women who embody classical beauty, those he considers to be flawless masterpieces.

Libra is going to put the woman he likes up on that pedestal, no matter if everyone thinks Gwenyth Paltrow would be the perfect choice to play her in the film adaptation of his life, or even if she actually wants to sit there at all.

Libra's love and appreciation have the power to deeply transform a potential partner. When a woman gazes into his adoring eyes, she starts to see herself as a reflection of the high standards he places upon her, which motivates her to view herself similarly. The love from a Libra is genuinely uplifting. He doesn't aim to create dependency; instead, he desires for those he cares about to feel both liberated and successful, so they won't require anything more from him or anyone else than mutual, returned love.

Naturally, the overwhelming positivity and brightness that Libra surrounds himself with only creates a darker shadow in his life and mind. He takes it all in, rationalizes it, and compensates for any shortcomings with a frequently exaggerated optimism, if not outright happiness.

Libra truly lives by his motto, "we are," and being in a relationship with him can feel like an endless duet or a dance marathon. Every discussion is heavy with meaning. Every choice has to be made together, as if relationships are a two-person democracy. There’s a lot happening in his head, and he’s bursting with plans. On top of that, Libra is known for being anxious and eager to get things done. He has good intentions and high hopes, but every day he sets up an ambitious schedule of activities that he often fails to complete, held back by his own strict standards.

Life with a Libra has its tensions, but remember, this is how he likes it.
