I love 1D, I harboured a longing for a reunion and loved how vocal Liam and Niall were about it. Their enthusiasm gave me hope.

Liam never lived up to his potential, he could have been huge in his solo career, from the first time I saw him in 2008, I thought he really had that elusive 'it'.

His voice was so good, he should have been doing Vegas residencies. I always thought his niche would be Bublé -ish, with his added talent for melody, ya know?

He just never had the right people around him. Those hanging around didn't seem to have his best interests at heart.

He had a heart the size of a small city, always so loving and giving, so earnest and willing to reach out to people, check they were doing ok.

You can see that some people truly respected him and his talent, just by their posts.

It's all so very sad. For his parents, his sister's, his son. All have lost a loving soul.

Such a disappointment, to pass this way, he didn't deserve this, he deserved to live long enough to sing Act My Age as an old man.

I see him as the bullied little boy, so sweet but not appreciated by his young schoolmates.

It feels simultaneously like it happened months ago and like it happened a blink of an eye ago.

And I am just a fan. I cannot imagine how his parents, his sisters, his son, his friends feel.

Grief has visited me too often this year. It's woven into my shadow and follows me.
