Am 12.00 y bore 'ma, daeth Deddf Priodasau (Cyplau o'r Un Rhyw) 2013 i rym yng Nghymru a Lloegr a mae'r 'priodasau hoyw' (fel y'u gelwir) cyntaf wedi digwydd yn yr oriau ers hynny.
Oes, mae yna wahaniaethau yn parhau rhwng cyplau cyfunrywiol ac anghyfunrywiol, yn enwedig o ran yr hawl i etifeddu pensiynau. Ond mae'r gallu i gadarnhau cariad trwy briodas yn hytrach na phartneriaeth sifil yn beth arbennig iawn. Bron iawn nad yw 'arbennig' neu unrhyw air cyffelyb yn ddigon i ddisgrifio mor wych o beth yw hwn.
Nid wyf i ar hyn o bryd mewn sefyllfa i briodi unrhyw un, ond mae gwybod y byddai modd imi wneud pe bawn ryw ddydd yn y sefyllfa honno yn wyrth. Mae'n siomedig mai ond heddiw, yn 2014, y mae hwn yn bosibl ond dyma gam, rwy'n meddwl, yn nes at gydraddoldeb i bawb, pa beth bynnag eu rhywioldeb.
Serch hynny, mae yna waith dal i'w wneud ac mae ymgyrchoedd gan unigolion a sefydliadau fel Stonewall dal yn anghenraid ac yn bwysig. Mae pobl LHDTh yn dal i wynebu gwahaniaethu a rhagfarn, maen nhw'n dal i ddioddef trais am rywbeth nad oes ganddyn nhw bŵer drosto ef. Mae pobl LHDTh mewn gwledydd eraill yn dal i gael eu herlid gan y gyfraith a chan gymdeithas yn gyffredinol. Mae'n hanfodol bwysig nad ydym yn anghofio fod dal angen ymgyrchu a chodi ymwybyddiaeth er mwyn newid y gymdeithas rydym yn rhan ohoni er mwyn cyrraedd sefyllfa ble mae modd i bawb fyw yn gwbl agored heb boeni am y goblygiadau.
Ond am nawr, dewch inni lawenhau mewn rhywbeth cwbl, cwbl wych.
One step closer to equality
At 12.00 this morning, the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 came into force in Wales and England and the first 'gay weddings' (as they're called) have taken place in the hours since.
Yes, there remain differences between heterosexual and homosexual couples, particularly in terms of pension inheritance rights. But the ability to affirm a couple's love by means of marriage instead of civil partnership is a very special thing. Indeed, neither 'special' nor similar words quite cover how fantastic this is.
I am not now in a situation where I could marry anyone, but knowing that I could should I one day be in that situation is truly amazing. It is disappointing that it is only today, in 2014, that this is possible but this is a step, I think, closer to equality for all, regardless of their sexuality.
Despite that, there is still work to be done and the campaigns of individuals and organisations like Stonewall are still necessary and important. LGBT people still face discrimination and prejudice, they still face violence because of something over which they have no power. LGBT people in other countries are still persecuted, both in law and in general society. It's extremely important that we don't forget that campaigning and raising awareness are still needed in order to change the society in which we live so that we might reach a situation where everyone can live openly without fear of the repercussions.
But for now, let's celebrate this utterly fantastic day.
