i think, sometimes, it’s a little odd how we’re so eager to give everything to pour our heart out just to keep another quenched it’s what they taught us, wasn’t it? be selfless.

it’s only when we’re older when they talk about us: how to be quiet and pose like pretty dolls. what to do when someone approaches you, how to run and how to sit properly and how to laugh and cry and live. they say it’s all for everyone, that it’ll make us all ourselves, but they tell everyone that.

what makes us different?

in a masquerade, it’s hard to see if you’re real. how do you prove that you exist? i think i know you, but only the you that’s for them; taught how to walk and stand and frown and smile and die. you say this is you. this is the only version of you. this is the story you choose to tell. do you tell everyone that?
