I LOVE PETYR 😭 he was one of my og favs and has remained so. i read about his laughing grey green eyes and i was immediately a goner.

i love a charming villain!! i love a devious schemer. i love a man raised above his station to the chagrin of his newly made peers. i love a good liar.

asoiaf as a whole is often focused on the futility of revenge. my own favorite plot arc is mostly about how you can never take back or alter the wrongs done to you, because the past will swallow you whole. there is a lot of reflection and balance in the many interwoven storylines of asoiaf but there are no successful acts of great retributive justice or satisfying revenge, because that just isn't the ethos of the series. so many characters are failed by westeros' nonexistent justice system (legal or social) and dedicate themselves to revenge, and we are shown every time that this serves only to drive them further into ruin.

i know all this as a human being. but as an ape, i want littlefinger flayed from his hairline down to his ankles, then i want him dragged screaming down the full length of the king's road by a team of horses. when they come to the gates of king's landing from the wall i want there to be nothing but blood stained, manged chains left to denote that anyone had been tied to them at all.

missed this on my last reread btw but petyr snatches jeyne up for his child trafficking ring immediately. i wonder if he was already plotting to use her as a potential stark hostage or if he just saw a lowborn orphan girl no one would miss or care to look for.
