Georgiana is desperate for fun after her horrid, unattentive parents abandon her to live with her Aunt. She gets caught up with Frances and the popular “in crowd” of high society friends that loves to drink and party and after a summer of fun and friendship trouble ensues. But there is also romance as she falls for the handsome Thomas Hawkley. I love Georgiana’s quips, she’s got moxy and can quote poems from memory. The friend group while everything is fun and games is delightful. And there are some hilariously written sections and turns of phrase that made me giggle. There are some darker themes like sexual assault, racism and classism and of course bullying by the leader of the mean girls, but I think it's deftly woven together with the fun of the story. Just be prepared for an angsty turn in the second half of the book before the HEA and MC’s growth. My favorite part was the letters and written banter between Georgiana & Thomas. I could easily read an entire book of just their correspondence. It’s like Regency Texting! How it starts out formal and turns completely casual is too funny. It’s some of the best banter I’ve read and their chemistry in every scene together is palpable. I just love them.
