Leviathan Screenplay
When I first read the Leviathan Trilogy 9 or so years ago, I absolutely loved them. At the time, I thought it’d be so cool for there to be a Leviathan movie. Of course, that’s unlikely ever to happen.
So I thought I’d go ahead and write one myself.
LEVIATHAN, THE MOVIE
The lives of two teenagers, each hiding a big secret, become intertwined as they bridge the ideological divide between their nations’ technologies in order to rescue a downed airship in the outset of WW1.
I’d like to present the beginning of the film. Below if a link to a pdf file in Google Drive. I hope y’all will check it out. I’m still working on the screenplay (though I have finished a full draft, fade in to fade out at this point, and it’s now all about revisions), but I’ve always felt this scene is pretty much finished. It was the first one I sat down and wrote, nearly a year ago.
In my mind, this would be an animated movie, made with an older audience in mind: late teens to early 20s. It’s not the exact same as the book, as you’ll tell by literally the first sentence, but I do everything I can to make a faithful adaptation. I’m writing this both as a fan of the series, but also as an aspiring screenwriter. Working on the script has been a fantastic learning experience, and I feel I’ve learned a lot over the course of it.
I’m super grateful to all the people in the Leviathan Discord who have given feedback while I work on this. I’d @ them here on tumblr, but I won’t unless they’re cool with it.
Not sure when I’ll throw more up here on tumblr, but this is one of the few active places Leviathan fans still exist, so I just wanted to share it with y’all. Without further ado:
