As we fight the coronavirus, this is a difficult and surreal time in our lives. With that said, I feel a need to acknowledge that this is the holiest day for Christians all over the world. I am among that group. First, I’d like to acknowledge that I respect and accept that each of us is entitled to her or his own beliefs. My belief does not make me better than anyone else. I pray for and remain grateful for everyone. In the media and from various people, I’ve heard and read that this Easter Sunday celebration is less than because we are unable to physically go to Church. Granted, the inability to receive the body and blood of Christ is regrettable, but this is not new. For centuries before, many Christians practiced their faith in the absence of churches, mass, priests, and communion, and all that comes with it. Many had to hide their beliefs for fear of real persecution. Still, they believed. Although we normally receive his body and blood each Sunday, for the faithful, we are already filled with both. As I celebrate this day, it is about my gratitude, faith, trust, and belief that on this day, Jesus rose for us. Those beliefs are not diminished because I celebrate online and not in a Church. So, Happy Easter for those who celebrate with me, and Happy Sunday for those who don’t. I wish all of you a beautiful and safe day.
