Today marked the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy at a ceremony at the grave site of more than 9,380 American service members who were killed in the World War II landings and the operations that followed. Of the nearly 160,000 Allied troops who landed on Omaha, Juno and the other beaches of northern France or parachuted behind German lines, about 73,000 were from the United States. 13 years ago today, I stood in a board room overlooking Hog Sty Bay and the Waterfront, watching the news as planes were flown into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and rural Pennsylvania where United 93 (whose passengers heroically foiled the on-board terrorists' plot to crash into a populated area) crash landed. Although that moment has impacted my career in AML, CTF and Financial Crime tremendously, I consistently remember that each man, woman and child that was injured or killed that day was a victim of a crime in my mind. Not a tragedy, but murder and attempted murder. #LetUsNeverForget #GodBlessAmerica
