Where: Black Family Manor When: Day after Andromeda’s Death Who: Narcissa & Bellatrix @lestrangerthings
Narcissa had been curled up on the couch for hours. A book lay on her lap but she couldn’t seem to find the motivation or concentration to read it and Calliope sat beside her. Ocassionally she would reach over to pet the dog whenever she felt the tears threaten to fall. Andromeda was dead. She didn’t want to believe it, didn’t want to face the reality that they wouldn’t be coming home some time. Her father had locked himself in his study and had barely come out since Andromeda’s deception had come to light, and her mother had thrown herself into modifying the wedding plans to fit her instead of Andromeda.
The news of Andromeda’s death had been given to them that morning after a silent breakfast. Things had been silent in the manor lately, Narcissa felt lonelier than ever without Andromeda there. She wanted nothing more than to rage at the Dark Lord for stealing her sibling and cousin from her, wanted nothing more than to scream and cry until she got it all out of her system. But she knew that she couldn’t. All eyes were on the Blacks now and any sign of weakness could have the rest of them thrown into Azkaban, could have the Dark Lord questioning their loyalty. And that just wouldn’t do, her mother had said.
She let a few tears fall down her cheeks, but when she heard the footsteps approaching, she quickly wiped them away and tried to go back to reading. Narcissa didn’t need to look up to know that Bellatrix was standing there. “Hey Trix,” she said softly, glancing up from the book. “Dad’s in his study.”
