Literally that's what Cosette sometimes does in her convent school days

The nuns all knew that several of their students are severely traumatized one way or another

So they just let those girls do quiet anxiety relieving stuff as long as it isn't harmful and doesn't disrupt the class

Combeferre/Jehan is so soothing to me. I feel like they’d be an autumn together.

Jehan drags Combeferre to poetry slam events, very, very rarely Combeferre will take the stage and just absolutely blow everybody out of the water with a short and simple speech thats absolutely devastating

They definitely have a vintage stamp collection

Thrift store and second hand bookshop dates

Jehan will scribble down random things Combeferre says from time to time because they love the way he’s able to so distinctly make a point. He binds this into a homemade book called “Combeferre Colloquialism’s” and gifts it to him for their anniversary

éponine knowing next to nothing about flowers, but she figured out which flowers are cosette’s favorites and when she finds them, she always brings one (or many) home to her.

cosette getting down on one knee frequently to ask éponine to be her girlfriend. “cosette. we’ve been dating for 3 years.”

cosette knowing that éponine always stays up late studying or working and falls asleep on her work. if she can’t carry her into bed, then she wraps her favorite blanket around her & arranges things so her head isn’t resting on her keyboard.

éponine’s hair always gets in her face and she forgets to bring hair ties so cosette wears extras on her wrists for whenever éponine needs one.

cosette always celebrates éponine’s birthday because it was never acknowledged when she was a child. éponine likes quiet nights with just the two of them on those days.

when cosette does poorly in school or at work, it really upsets her, and when éponine finds out she always makes one of sette’s favorite meals, and they watch a happy movie. éponine gives her comforting words and gentle kisses.

éponine hates the rain. at it’s best she’s out of sorts all day and at worst she has to cancel all plans. cosette has the weather app on her home page on her phone so she can be prepared. éponine prefers to use umbrellas, and cosette always stocks warm blankets and headphones at the apartment.

cosette steals éponine’s sweatshirts even though they’re a little bit long on her. éponine grumbles a bit but she really loves seeing her girlfriend in her clothes.

cosette is not the best cook but whenever éponine has a lot going on, and can’t make dinner, she orders éponine’s favorite meals so they can eat them at home.

they love watching the stars together. their apartment has a little balcony where they can step out and watch the sky. éponine tells cosette about the constellations and cosette watches in wonder at how enchanting her girlfriend is when she’s passionate. “cosette, you have to actually look at the stars i’m talking about, love” “but i’m watching you, because you are my star.”

cosette responds to “i love you” with “that’s gay” 10% of the time

when cosette finds colorful leaves in the fall, she brings back one each day so that éponine can tape them in her scrapbook

éponine only sings in front of cosette and nobody else and she’s not amazing but cosette loves listening to her voice

cosette makes flower crowns for éponine and ép would not wear them if anybody else ever offered but she loves cosette too much. she puts them on and adores it and tells ‘sette so.

when éponine can’t sleep, she turns so she can look at cosette and listen to her breathing. if cosette wakes, she hums a song to éponine and runs her fingers through ép’s hair until she falls asleep. cosette always rested easier and faster, so she never minds.

. So during those horrid years at Thenardier Inn, even with such cruelty, little Cosette unexpectedly made some mice friends

. It all started with her stealing some food from the Thenardiers' fridge for herself for lunch, and then she saw some mice. Now being born and spent her earlier years at the slums, Cosette already isn't that squeamish about mice. Yet when she saw the hungry mice, she offered a little bit of the food she stole to them

. And that's how Cosette made mice friends

. In her many escape attempts, those mice friends are the ones who helped her escape

. Cosette never told the Thenardiers of her mouse friends in those years. She is terrified thar they may hurt them

. Yet as Valjean and Cosette left the inn, Monsieur and Madame Thenardier turned to see some mice peeking from a hole to wave goodbye to Cosette

. Cue little Eponine and Azelma SCREECHING in terror cuz of mice, and Monsieur and Madame Thenardier grabbed brooms to chase them to try beat them

. The mice fled for their lives!!!!!

. And the mice did have several other residences and avoided the Thenardiers as much as possible

. Cosette herself isn't that much squeamish of flies, mice and such. She wouldn't opt to beat or slap them - just gently remove them from another place

. In her convent school years, while a number of her classmates may SCREAM at the sight of a mouse, Cosette would try her best to reassure them that the mice are usually harmless.

. When her friends and several of her classmates ask Cosette why she isn't afraid of mice, Cosette smiled and explained that a certain group of mice helped her escape multiple times

. Fast forward to rhe June Rebellion era, and the Thenardier Sibs eventually lodged into the Cafe Musain Inn

. That is also where those mice from the Thenardier Inn also recently moved in

. Now none of them can ever forget Eponine and Azelma bullied them.

. Yet when they saw the Thenardier Sibs first showing up to that Cafe Musain, all brutally beat up and weeping, they feel heartbroken

. They look at each other and got reminded of little Cosette who has a similarly horrific experience

. So they started to treat the Thenardier Sibs with care

. Now those 5 aren't as squeamish as about mice as before ( due to 8 years of wandering and all ), yet Eponine at first is wary of the mice and works to protect her sibs

. Yet little by little, the 5 managed to form a bond with those mice

. FYI the mice at Thenardier Inn ALL helped save little Cosette from starving to death MORE THAN ONCE

. The mice also did whatever they can to help save Marius

. They actually guided Valjean to the sewer shortcut as he carried an unconscious Marius away from the barricades.....and then Marius got a type of fever from the sewers cuz Valjean took a wrong turn before a mouse squeaked and guided Valjean to a right direction

. Those Thenardier Sibs mice are all so thrilled to see Cosette again as they have seen Cosette secretly helping to have the Thenardier Sibs' time at Cafe Musain basement as comfy as possible

. And those mice also witnessed And celebrated Marius and Cosette's wedding from outside!

We have Carmen, a woman growing up in a nomadic Romani tribe amongst the mountains of Southern Spain, she is a cigarette maker at day and a flamenco dancer at some nights.....and she feels deeply with nature. And we got Micaela, who, from the day she was born, her parents are ANXIOUS for her rite to become a glamorous society lady, and Micaela thus has a fairly sheltered upbringing yet wants to experience a sense of adventure

And then ofc we got Eponine who became an epitome of ' ferality of youth ' and a symbol of redemption, and Cosette who became an epitome of a quiet strength that at times overlooked by some people, and also a symbol of hope

Yet both foils are never meant to be enemies - they are being attempted to ' pit against each other ' largely by circumstances

Despite whatever sad history Cosette and Eponine had together, Cosette came to have enough grace to gradually forgive Eponine and Azelma and even offered unexpected compassion to them, which in turn is a BIG push for the Thenarfier sibs to run away from those horrible abusers and turn their lives around.

And in turn, Eponine decided to dress up as a man to help safeguard Marius in the barricade, just so that Marius and Cosette can be happy together

Micaela and Carmen didn't know each other much before - only heard some stuff of each other

They are at first inadvertently ' pitted against each other ' via the caddish Don Jose

But Carmen, who is then more experienced in the ways of the world, figured out the truth of things faster than Micaela does

While Carmen is a person who embraces quick change, Micaela is initially stubborn, and her first heartbreak, when that happened then, is literally like the end of the world for her

Luckily for many, in her new life in Valencia, Micaela is reminded of grace and the truth of things. It took her some time to see it, yet Micaela finally can see the truth of things at last

I can totally see both foils having a sort of making peace sometime after Eponine and Carmen died

Eponine and Cosette making peace on the night before Cosette's wedding, when Eponine's ghost decided to visit her there and offer Cosette and Marius her best tidings, and wishing them nothing but happiness together

Meanwhile, the Making peace between Micaela and Carmen can be some years AFTER the events of Carmen madness, where Micaela has become a glamorous society lady with a loving husband ( who is also a very powerful man ) and a devoted mother to her children, and Carmen's ghost decided to visit Micaela one evening on the eve before Carmen's death anniversary. And Micaela hugged Carmen, thanking her that, without her, Micaela may risk an even worse fate partially thanks to Don Jose. And Carmen wishes Micaela and the family she has in Valencia nothing but happiness and great fortune
