Hey Mother Nature, didn't you get the memo that I burn cards outside? Rain aside the torch-ure chamber claims another prisoner to close out the month (along with my Mega Millions ticket, didn't hit any of my ten numbers, in Keno I'd get $5 for that) and it is a good one. I don't mean it is a good card by any means. Farthest thing from it. Now think to yourself what could be worse than a kicker, punter, or middle reliever card? Coach card! Or in the case of today's Burnee Madoff a manager card. Shredding through 2002 Topps packs was fun until I hit my first Lloyd McClendon manager card. It got even less fun when I hit my first Jeff Torborg. Jeff Torborg was pictured as the manager (interim albeit) of the Montreal Expos. Decked out in his “What are you doing here?” glasses and probably smelling of Werther's Original, Torborg was in Florida by the set's release date. Funny I say release because 38 games into Torborg's second season with the Fish he got his walking papers. That team ended up winning the World Series with 498-year-old Jack McKeon as manager. Torborg's kid was the wrestler The Demon. I'd extrapolate more but I don't need this turning into a ten-page essay on late 2000's WCW. So 2002 Topps Jeff Torborg, you didn't have the best of luck and neither do I. Let us burn in unison. Nevermind I'm going to go get shithoused and go see Andrew W.K. instead. Toodles.
