okay, so in hindsight jumping into the pool when he can’t swim isn’t one of his best ideas. as a matter of fact, it’s probably the worst. this should have been an easy test run. his a.i is supposed to alert medical officials as soon as signs of struggle appeared, but here nick is in the middle of the pool trying to remember how to doggy paddle and wishing he had let his mother put him in swimming lessons back when he was seven.
when nick’s father was his age he probably already had hundreds of bots, and nick can’t even write a program simple enough to get off its lazy ass and turn on the damn auditory receptors-
water pushes into his mouth, forcing its way down his throat and into his lungs. he chokes, coughing and desperately trying to get the water out, out, out but his body isn’t getting the memo. more water rushes in and the chlorine burns his eyes red.
