Their reunion had been one long overdue and just when Rin thought that she could begin nurturing a healthier relationship with her brother while still maintaining some distance, life had decided that it hadn’t finished punishing it’s favorite pair of misery-induced twins just yet. The apartment she had just moved into never said anything about whether pets were allowed or not and so, naturally, she hadn’t thought to get confirmation about it. Not even when she had decided to impulsively adopt a cat for no reason other than she was tired of feeling alone. Worst yet, it was a decision she came to instantly regret as her landlord had been less than thrilled over the revelation weeks later.
Being kicked out on such short notice came as a shock and to avoid being homeless for however long it would take for her to find a new home desperate measures had to be taken. She’d had to suck up her pride and do something she hoped would never happen to her again: move in with Len. A little over a month had passed since the two had finally made up to the best of their ability and although they still had their bad days-- their highs and their lows-- aside from a few small, petty arguments and butting heads here and there things had been going rather smooth.
So once she walks inside from a long day out and sees Len seated on the sofa in the living room, attention drawn to the television, she feels no shame in plopping down beside him dramatically, feet resting comfortably in his lap as her gaze settles on the ceiling above. Something has been bothering her greatly today and Mikuo must be busy for he has yet to respond to her 4 paragraph text message frenzy and she could use a bit of coddling for the time it takes for her best friend to get back to her.
“So...”
“Guess who I saw today.”
