To add onto all of that, I do think it's important that he isn't characterized as shy about the whole thing, specifically because he isn't shy at all. He has been humbled by meeting his own mental limits and therefore showcases modesty more often than not, but that doesn't actually make him timid. The thing he struggles with throughout the narrative is this pervasive feeling that he doesn't deserve to be treated well, that the bare minimum is what he's entitled to because of his guilty conscience. How that would be remedied in my mind is that I/my TAV just shower him in casual indulgence, no questions asked. Like obviously it would take time for him to get used to a lifestyle where he wants for nothing, telling that man to rest is like telling Gale to be brief about something in that it goes against his established (voluntold) leadership habits. But enough gentle prodding to get him to sit his ass down to take a chill pill is enough to get the ball rolling for him.
My initial post was about getting him to rest in my camp, but realistically the indulgence could be carried elsewhere, whether that's in Baldur's Gate proper or somewhere else entirely in Faerûn is irrelevant. Still, the possibilities limited to the city are pretty vast. Imagine including him in a trip to The Wide in Upper City during a festival in order to partake in seasonal, regional cuisine. As a treat. Or how about taking his ass all the way to Arabel (about 900 miles east of Baldur's Gate fyi) for some beer and wine tasting. Mans needs a vacation and I'd be more than willing to give the to him.
I can also see a scenario where Halsin does some encouraging on his end for Zev. Like it's no secret that Halsin himself is playful about his own "largeness," who's to say that this can't extend to other people in his life? Food for thought.
