👉🏿 @allaboutsyl - My two cents: What I see when I see #LelaRochon amid this #AntoineFuqua cheating debacle is- I see a beautiful black middle aged woman who likely put her career on the back burner for marriage and family and decided to assist the buildout of a career of her very talented husband in the film and entertainment industry. And now we find out that her husband repaid all of her sacrifice with two outside children by two other women and now an international internet scandal with a woman who has a well known track record as a home wrecker, (stunning as she may be.) To see black men weigh in HEAVILY on the weight gain of Lela Rochon legitimizing Antoine’s infidelities without a smidgen of concern for Lela’s overall well being shows me exactly where we are as a unit and a community. It’s clear (at least to me) that the woman is emotionally depressed. She’s weathered these battles privately and now it’s on the front lines for the world to see and too many women in our communities set their dreams, and their careers aside to shoulder the role of BOTH parents and to be a spouse to emotionally and physically unavailable men while the women support the entire tribe- putting themselves, their interests and their hopes and dreams in last place all the while, getting lost in the process..... And the thanks black women get from these brothers, is to be humiliated publicly not only by the men they chose but by the entire viewing and social public. Ok..... and these blogs and captions- “Lela’s weight gain didn’t cause Antoine to cheat, Antoine has BEEN cheating, that’s what’s causing this weight gain- Stress!!!!” Lela will likely never see this but I pray you repair your health and your heart sis and once healed, find a man worthy of your support and love. I end this all with- I see all this patriarchal, Ike Turner esque bullshit and some of y’all ain’t shit- it’s sisters out here supporting y’all every waking move and putting themselves, their children and their own physical and mental health in jeopardy to do it.
