Finally had a much needed surgery and though the road to recovery will be tough it'll be more then worth it 💪😤 few thoughts I've had since: . Setting goals for the YouTube channel and BoydenBuilds project for the sports card community to keep my mind off the pain 🙃 thinking about going live on Facebook later . It's crazy but I do love how major surgery can bring family together 💖 lol gotta keep positive! . Lastly I've been thinking about getting into welding next year 😆 love to work with my hands plus I'd love to help keep future generations interested in it once I've mastered the incredibly valuable skill 💎 . For anyone going into surgery I wish you all the luck I had plus tons more 🍀 . #surgery #surgeryrecovery #legsurgery #cancersurvivor #thinkingaboutlife #whatimthinking #boydenbuilds #weldingcareer #welding (at Hot Springs, Arkansas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMagUIdnXdc/?igshid=1cvautya27ely

Hospitals always have pain medication that make you just feel so happy! . . . . . . . . . . . . . #surgery #postop #toronto #legsurgery #hightibialosteotomyrotation #high
Three months ago.
Three months ago I was doing crossfit and noticed this sharp pain in my knee. It was not going away so I asked the Doctor to do an X-ray. Her first response was for me to just quit doing crossfit... Really? I kindly asked if she would do an X-ray first before I quit doing something I liked.
About a week later I get a call saying I have a 9cm bone tumor behind my knee. Say what? Got sent from Alaska all the way to Texas to have it removed 7 months later. That was 12 weeks ago now.
Before I had the surgery I decided to do everything I could to get into the best shape I could be in, this way I would have a longer ways to fall while recovering. I was dedicated before, but this was a whole new level of dedication. That was the best decision I could have made.
Now 12 weeks later I have lost almost ten pounds of muscle, and my lower body has had it with me. Upper body has only suffered a little as I was only restricted from lifting the first 6 weeks. However that's like years in the world of gains (exaggeration of course). I never would have thought I would be upset to have lost weight. I have always been obsessed with being skinny. Seeing all that hard work just diminish has been difficult, but I always find a way to thrive. So I may come out of this looking like I skipped a few leg days, but my goal is to get that 8 pack and get my guns back while I am recovering.
My amazing friend Amber always does what I call "gimp" workouts with me. Our plan was to go swimming and do abs, but the pool was closed for kayaking. So we decided to just do abs. Here was our workout:
V up roll ups 1 set of 25
Heels to the heaven 1 set 25
Med ball (12lb) oblique twists 1 set 50
Plank 1 minute
Plank on 1 step 1 minute
Plank on 2 steps 1 minute
Plank with toes on yoga ball 1 minute
Plank with elbows on yoga ball 1 minute
Heal to Heal touches Alternating while keeping shoulders off the ground 1 minute
Med ball oblique twists 50
Bicycles 1 set 50
Yoga ball crunches 1 set 25
Alternating toe touches to the ground while lying on back coming back to table top,1 set 50 (marching)
Lying on back, toes touching outside the matt, then back to table top, then touch the toes to the middle, back to table top, repeat. 1 set 50
Sitting up holding legs as high and straight as you can tolerate, hold position, for 1 minute while holding arms out in front and moving them as if under water and paddle. 2 sets 1 minute each
Med ball sit ups 1 set 25
Hold legs straight in the air, holding a med ball pulse the med ball towards your toes 3 sets of 50
I meant to take pictures, so I apologize if the descriptions do not make sense. This is quite a lengthy workout, but abs were all we were doing for the day. Try to take as little rests as possible. You want to keep your abs engaged and fired up. Woke up feeling this today!
