Suitcase and Knife were strolling down a dusty, dirt pathway in the semi-darkness. It was night, and the pair had just been confirmed as the two finalists of the season.
Neither one had spoken since they began making their way down the path. Tensions were relatively high after the events of that day, and both had rather dismayed expressions, despite their current rankings in the competition.
After a few minutes of walking, Knife glanced over at Suitcase.
âYou know, it was a mistake choosing me.â He said, breaking the silence between them.
Suitcase returned his gaze. âHuh? Why do you say that?â
A smug grin crossed Knifeâs face.
âBecause Iâm going to win.â
âOh, thatâs funny...â Suitcase began, a small smile appearing on her face as she looked back at the path ahead. âI was pretty sure I chose you so that I wouldnât have any real competition in the end. My mistake.â
Knife felt Suitcaseâs words pierce directly through his ego.
âSeems like your logic was flawed.â He retorted through gritted teeth.
âWas it?â Suitcase flashed Knife her own smug, knowing look.
Knife stared her down through a forced smile, with Suitcase readily matching his intensity.
Just then, Knife froze in place, letting out a small gasp.
âSuitcase! Do you see that?â He exclaimed, pointing at a spot further down the path.
Suitcase slowed. She looked at Knife confusingly, before turning her attention to the area. âHuh?â
Bap! Suitcase felt someone flick her right in the centre of her face. She stumbled back, reorienting herself as she heard Knife chuckling.
âDid you see it?â He grinned at her, with Suitcase shooting him an agitated look in return.
âIt must have slipped me by...â She replied, subtly moving closer to Knife, âI think that you should check this out, though.â
In an instant, Suitcase clicked open, positioned herself under Knifeâs arm, and snapped shut. There wasnât enough pressure to cause Knife any harm, but effectively trapped his limb.
âWha- hey!â Knife began roughly tugging at his arm, but Suitcase wouldnât let go. âI need that!â
âActually, itâs mine now. Itâs the least I could get after enduring that ruthless attack.â
Knife stopped tugging with a sigh. âOkay, I have to warn you, if you donât let go, I may have to do something youâll regret.â
âTry me.â Suitcase replied without a beat.
âAlright...â
Suitcase felt Knifeâs trapped hand suddenly spring to life inside of her inner compartment, his fingers brushing up against the lining. She found herself fighting a smile as small sparks were produced from the gentle contact.
Suitcase slightly folded in on herself. âPfft- Knife!â
âI tried to warn you.â He explained, the brushing transitioning to light scratching.
âAha-! Wahait! Thahatâs not fahair!â Suitcase giggled, lightly stomping one of her feet against the ground.
âIt is when youâre the one keeping it in there. This is a situation of your own making.â
Suitcase shook herself around. âJust stahap!â
âOnly if you let go.â Knife asserted, speeding up his fingers.
âACK! OKAHAY!â
Suitcase opened up, allowing Knife to retract his arm.
Knife dusted off the now-free limb. âSee? Was that so hard?â
Suitcase, regaining her breath, decided that she wasnât going down that easily.
Without warning, she jumped up and clamped herself shut over Knifeâs blade, bringing him back down with her as she landed on the ground.
Knife was now suspended horizontally in the air, with the better part of his blade trapped within Suitcaseâs inner compartment.
Muffled protests sounded from inside of Suitcase.
âWhatâs that? Sorry, itâs hard to hear you in there.â Suitcase taunted. Raising up one of her legs, she began trailing her ankle down the length of Knifeâs side.
Knifeâs limbs tensed up before frantically swinging through the air.
âSeems like the shoe is on the other foot now, huh?â Suitcase teased, continuing the action.
Knife struggled for a moment longer, before his hands came to rest on Suitcaseâs front. His fingers quickly moved to wiggle against the area.
âAH! Nohoho- Knihife!â Suitcase laughed, now struggling to keep her balance.
Eventually, Suitcase was forced to click open, allowing for Knife to tumble out. She subsequently fell backwards onto the ground.
Knife remained there for a moment, recovering, as Suitcase quickly lifted herself to her feet.
âYohou jeherk!â She giggled out.
Before Knife could respond, Suitcase pounced at him, situating herself on top of his handle. Knife pressed his hands to her front, lightly pushing at her.
âIâm the jerk? You trapped me!â Though he was attempting to seem upset, Knifeâs playful grin suggested otherwise.
âYeah, and Iâd do it again!" Suitcase leaned down, pressing a raspberry against the centre of Knifeâs handle.
Knife squeaked, shoving Suitcase off and onto the ground.
Suitcase couldnât help but giggle. âWhahat was thahat nohoise?â
Knife ignored the question, sitting up.
âSo thatâs how you wanna play, huh? Fine.â
Knife advanced towards Suitcase, swiftly picking her up by her handle. With his free hand, he scribbled beneath it, making Suitcase kick her legs.
âNohoho! Ehehe! Quihit ihit!â
As Knife continued, Suitcase scanned him over. She took notice of how both of his arms were currently raised away from his body. Shooting out her legs, Suitcase positioned her ankles under each of Knifeâs arms, beginning to rapidly scribble against the surfaces.
âAHA- DOHONâT!â Knife cackled, immediately dropping Suitcase. She landed on her feet, as Knife wrapped his arms protectively around himself.
âOkahay, truhuce! Truhuce.â He giggled out.
âAlright,â Suitcase conceded, âtruce⌠for now.â
She waited with a smile as Knife stood up, the pair then resuming their trek down the pathway.
The surrounding air was noticeably lighter, with earlier tensions eased, even if just slightly. No matter what the game had left in store for them, Suitcase and Knife knew that they would be alright, as long as they had each other.
