I think Spike/Spiffy is probably a huge reason we had to suffer Bologna/Blarke fans so much. Another reason not to like it. A lot of those people probably grew up watching Buffy and after seeing it romanticized in that show now follow that formula for shipping. Angry abusive man and the girl that tries to keep them under control/understand them in order to minimize the damage they do: it's a trigger for them to start shipping now.
I’ve seen a lot of them bring up Spike/Buffy over the years so :) Same thing with Logan/Veronica. Find me a more trash canon ship than that in recent history and yet most of them also ship it. It’s so bad that even Kristen Bell is on record saying multiple times that she hates it which is why she was aces when he died lol. Elschits top two OTPs in her life were LoVe and Blarke. GO FUCKING FIGURE! (Don’t quote me on this but I feel like I remember her also liking Spike/Buffy lol). Straight women LOVEEEEEEEE the ships where the strong women have to babysit their manchildren and I’m not here for any of it. Fuck that.
