#7/100 — #7of100 The spiral path of art is a constant fascination to me, and a perfect metaphor for life. Each iteration comes with a new understanding for all that’s accumulated up to now. .……….……….……….……….……… I’ve learned to leave a painting (or a sewing project, writing, animation, whatever) when it gets to that sticky stage where I can’t see where it wants to go next. I let it rest. .……….……….……….……….……….… I know I’ll circle back round eventually, sometimes months or years later. In this case it was just a few days. This rabbit and I have getting into fights with each other lately. She chewed my favorite duvet cover and bit my finger hard enough to draw blood (3rd time she's done this) She knows when I yell her name when she's being a brat and she acts like a teenager acting out against her mother (turning around and giving me the butt. One time she looked at me and peed on my bed with a stink eye) Then again, she has some right to bite and scratch me. I have to pick her up to take her outside.she hates being picked up (She protests very vocally). Sometimes I can't help but snuggle her in my arms when I'm holding her because she is soft and cute. But then she gets annoyed being held for so long. She has no way of saying "Let me down!" besides angry grunting, scratching and biting Despite all of this, she still gives me kisses when I'm snuggling her on the couch or petting her when she's on the floor Obviously I need to work on being a better owner for such a small creature. I try. Sometimes I get caught up in the moment and this little bundle of angry fluff has to remind me. day 20 of #the100dayproject #100layersbyMixy —————————————— This is canvas 4 of the 5, the ‘youngest’ with only a few first layers. I had an inexplicable resistance towards this painting almost from the start. It wanted straight lines in with the swoopy swirls and the two ideas were battling for my attention every time I picked up my brush. It was a noisy chaos of conflicting ideas and I couldn’t see where I was going with it. ——————————————— Every painting, every creative project - in my experience - goes through a difficult ugly stage at least once. I used to give up and start over when this happened, or just leave it abandoned in a guilty heap of other ugly-stage art. This was the way until l came to understand it’s only a phase which needs be moved through. ——————————————— The last time I added to this canvas was over a week ago, I just arrived at the point of hope, I could see a way past the ugly phase, and it needed (we both needed) a rest. Now I’m back and it’s asking for color. ——————————————— It’s difficult to define the sense of ‘it’s not going how I want it to’ when there isn’t a clear ’how I want it to look’ in my mind’s eye. It’s a sense of fumbling about in a darkness.
