😱Spider Mites!!

Alocasias often get attack by spider mites. Always keep an eye on your plants and try to identify any signs of them. Such as a fine web on the bottom of your leaves, white tiny dots or any other sign.

I first take a second to calm down. Then run and take the plant to the shower and give it a good spray, that usually cleans most of the spider mites.

After that, let the leaves dry a bit and spray Neem oil on all leaves (front and back), stems and soil. You are donw for the day.

Spray with Neem oil every other day the first week. The, twice a week the next two weeks and finally once a week the next two weeks.

Do an inspection every other day to see if you identify those signs again.

Winterizing Houseplants P2! Frost Days 🥶❄️

*𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻> Frost days happen when temperatures drop below 36°F (2°C). Those days we have to be aware of any sentitive plant in a window sill or very close to a window (like my alocasias in my post 2 days ago ory plants on this window sill on the video)

If you live in a place that has frost days continuously for several days/weeks, you might want to move those plants farther away from the windows, just during those times. 🥶

You can check on the weather app if there is any forecasted frost day I'm the near future. 🤳

Winterizing a houseplant? Key things to do! Here is the first thing to look after.

Heater & fire places! The heating system dries the air, decreasing the humidity and drying the plants faster.

Make sure to use the finger test to determine when a plant needs water & maybe group plants together to increase humidity (if you don't have a humidifier)

Caladium Marie Moir Polka Dot 💗

I'm not very familiar with the different types of caladiums that exist, but somehow I know it is a caladium right when I see it.

I also lost the label, so this was the most accurate I got. If you know the exact name, please comment here and I'll update it and give you credit for it!

Caladiums are like magical, almost unreal. The texture is paper-like and the colors are like watercolor.

Begonia Sinbad (Angel wing Begonia)

I'm so happy that I found this rare baby randomly at a local nursery about 1.5 years ago. This was my confirmation that I was ready to grow and keep begonias happy. She has grown insanely and I'm currently attempting to propagate two cuttings.

This has worked for me:

✓Try not to wet the leaves. I personally don't mist or water the leaves.

✓Finger test for life. They love to dry well before watering again.

✓I add one tablespoon of coffee grounds twice a year.

✓Medium indirect light

✓Talk to them!
