I have a venus flytrap. I don't have a name for it yet, but I do know how to take care of it. A venus flytrp is a bog plant so it always needs water at the bottom of it's pot. My recommendation is to use one of those plastic pots that it usually comes in and have the plant and it's dirt sit in there, then use a plate or a pot without a hole at the bottom if you want something prettier, a bowl could also work, really just anything that holds water. Just keep the plate/pot/bowl filled with a little bit of water at all times and it should be fine. (I do not recommend you put this plant or really any plant near your electronics in case it spills.)
These squeezy bottles have been super helpful lately for watering my tiny seed grown cacti and succulent props, plus adding a little water to the propagations I've got going in the smoothie cups. I mix a very tiny bit of the terra aquatica coco coir specific fertilizer in, one with a general houseplant NPK ratio and the other one a lot lighter on the nitrogen and heavier on the rest, for the succulent and cacti.
TIL, after seeing flower buds and googling frantically, that mimosa pudica plants are biennial indoors and it’s supposedly going to die after it flowers :((
does anyone have any tips of how to keep mine alive? should i cut off the buds to keep the energy going to the leaves?
i know i’m supposed to just collect the seeds and restart, but i’ve grown attached to this one in particular and would prefer to keep it alive at the expense of its flowers
can i perform some sort of flower abortion on this plant to keep it alive?

i'm gonna rate the plants i had over the years
random cacti in the soil i bought them in 4/10they were nice for a while, some surviving few months but then died and it was disheartening (all cacti are doomed unless they're in cacti soil mixed with perlit or smth)
old man cactus 10/10 they survived five falls (after two of them i was sure they're gonna die), 2 years in a flat with 2 hours of sunlight (in summer), being forgotten about in a closed box for 3 months (i was psychotic), and of course me very slowly learning how to tell when they need water -> and it's gonna be our 8th year together soon grows v slowly though, or maybe that's bc my cacti aren't getting nearly enough light, idk
heather 7/10 it kinda looks dead even when it's alive so i kept it for a long time after killing it by forgetting to water it
campanula 0/10 it was pretty when i bought it and then it was impossible to kill it but also impossible to make it look good again; i was upset about it, i was doing my best but it was never enough for this fucker
ferns 8/10 it's actually nice to have a plant that tells you what it needs immidiately - you were supposed to water it after waking up, as usual, you stupid fuck, not in the evening (just place it next to your meds or smth so you won't forget it exist); at the same time ferns aren't easy to kill bc of their risome being quite sturdy; i repotted them and read about fern care for like 30 minutes and they were nice and pretty until they got bugs and i couldn't bring myself to kill them bc they also had tiny earthworms
pomegranate shrub 9/10 i didn't water it enough, then overwatered it, then burnt it with sun, cut the branches that had only leaves burnt to crisp, forgot to water it for quite a while, overwatered it again, now it's infested with bugs and somehow it's still so fucking pretty? minus points for the fact that i don't know what i'm doing so i'm afraid i'm gonna kill it
selenicerus cactus 11/10 when i stole it (by taking it from the soil in which it was growing next to other random plants), it was both burnt and overwatered, and terribly maimed, and after being placed in proper soil,,, it just sprang right up - and you just water it whenever branches look thinner and dryer it has a plus side of being v fun to watch bc it kinda clings to things you place near it and looking at it each day, you can see how it's moving!!! i love it
