LEAETHER STRIP - “LEAETHER STRIP, PART ONE”
A cracking instrumental, in a (sub)genre not particularly known for its instrumental tracks: electronic body music, that is! Assuming you consider a track with a few samples of people talking thrown in the mix to be “instrumental,” but what’s EBM without some fun samples? Claus “Leaether Strip” Larsen, hailing from the EBM heartland of Belgium, certainly doesn’t disappoint. After all, when you name a song after your own act, you’ve got to make sure it’s really good, right? This track basically functions as a lead-in to a second part that’s a bit more traditional in structure, but I actually prefer the build-up. It makes interesting use of some dry acoustic strumming--also very unusual in the context of this genre, and yet it works!
