Christmas was not only the time of happiness, spoiled children and carefree eating – If anything, what people called ‘Christmas time’ was merely winter until the two fateful days of the 24th and 25th of December. And, of course, winter did not magically stop time in the business world purely for the sake of happiness, spoiled children and carefree eating. This was, at least, what Emma had been trying to explain to one of her advisors when he called to ask for an early holiday to be with his pregnant wife. And to say that the message did not go through quite well was a euphemism. She needed coffee, the blonde decided as she hung up, and as much as she could not care less for Starbuck or the fact she did not hold any stocks in the firm, they did make decent coffee, and were close by her office. Which is how she ended up in the queue of a mildly packed coffee place, nonchalantly skipping a few places – Some people magically forgot they wanted to order something and purely left -, blissfully unaware of whoever might be spotting her actions. And, because nothing seemed to work in Emma’s favor today, a pair of eyes indeed seemed to be staring at her back, as she went to sit with her double espresso at an empty table.
