Hey, we have a new lead developer for Android: Netrunner! Michael Boggs is not a name I knew before today, but I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and let’s welcome him to the design team of our favorite game. He certainly has thoughts on what he likes about the game that might go against dominant approaches in the current meta:
FFG: What are your favorite decks to play? Do you have any favorite cards?
MB: For Corp, Thousand Cuts Jinteki. It can be difficult to win if the Runner knows your tricks, but being able to snipe key cards is always a ton of fun. For the Runner, hyper-aggressive Criminal. I love finishing a run with more cards and credits than I started with.
Even though I die to it way more than I should, and can never seem to pull it off myself, my favorite card is probablyProject Junebug (Core Set, 69). In my opinion, it’s one of the most quintessential Android: Netrunner cards. There’s nothing more satisfying than tricking your opponent into flatlining themselves.
Though he makes the distinction between his personal tastes and the long-term health of the game, a “trap fan”/”net damage dude” is now running the game. I guess Damon was in that boat as well, and we are currently at a point in the game where the thousand cuts archetype is pretty much completely unviable (thank you, Aaron Marrón). But hey, good luck to MIchael, and looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.
