Here I am on a Sunday night, watching him sleep since it's early morning from his side of the world. This is our usual routine, hours on video call (thank God for technology), sending random messages which reminds us of each other, and being on the phone whenever we can. It is difficult to be apart, when you want to be with your person so badly, you want to touch them or simply be in the same space, doing different things.
Weekends are more difficult because you tend to miss them more. There's no work to distract you or consume your time. When you go out, you would see couples hanging out together, and it hurts so bad. What they take for granted, is something that you are patiently waiting to happen.
But then you realize that even though being in long distance takes a lot of work, it will always be worth it. Each day with that person makes you realize that you made the right choice. Hearing their voice or seeing their face gives you a different sense of peace, and gives you the confidence that because you have them, you can take on anything, no matter how impossible it may seem. Having a big heart enables you to make that person feel loved, despite being thousand of miles apart.
It takes trust, communication, and patience to make this type of relationship work. It's like giving your heart to someone, and trusting that person that he or she will not break it. As you journey with your person, you'll also learn a lot of things about yourself, how strong you are to deal with the daily struggles of life while being away from the person who matters to you; and how you are brave to go for this relationship despite the higher odds of getting hurt. At the end of the day, the risks that we take for love will always be worth it.
