Yup! I started playing the Impressions City Building games with Ceasar III and own all of them from there up to Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom - except Zeus/Poseidon - and played Zeus at some point when a coworker leant their copy of it to me. I have killed many, many hours playing and replaying all of them. IMHO they’re still some of the best city building games out there, especially if like me you like being able to choose economic conquest over going to war.
I was so pissed off when Sierra Entertainment wrecked the studio. They made such awesome games, why did they fuck up such a profitable business!?
I’ve now re-bought all of them on Steam except for Emperor, which they don’t have available, so I still need to have the CD handy if I want to replay that one (good thing I picked up an external BD/DvD/CD drive for my new laptop). Though apparently I can also get it on GOG, if I finally get around to setting up a GOG account.
I have yet to try the Pharoah-descended games done by Tilted Mill, which was formed by some ex-Impressions staff. I really should check if the Immortal Cities games are on Steam too.
OH! And have you seen? There’s a Pharoah remake being done that’s supposed to be released this year. Hopefully they do a good job, it does well, and they expand that to others in the series.
