#JackedKirby - Kobra... Maybe Jack's last creation before leaving DC Comics in 1975!!! This page comes from Kobra #Issue1 published in February of 1976... With his 4th World titles cancelled and his relationship with DC souring, Kirby announced at the Marvelmania '75 convention he was returning to DCs chief competitor... But DC still had some completed unpublished stuff from Kirby that hadn't seen release yet. Kobra was one of these projects. Kobra is the name of both the lead villain in this character as well as the terrorist organization that he leads. Jeffrey Franklin Burr was born as a Siamese twin (his brother Jason is another character in the series) and is adopted into the Cult of Kobra with the intention of fulfilling the cult's prophecy & ushering in the Kali Yuga (age of chaos). Burr is an arch criminal, amazing hand to hand fighter, and scientific mind... The Cult of Kobra has crossed paths with most of the big heroes in the DCU, most notably Wonder Woman and Batman alongside the Outsiders. Kobra the individual is one of the only villains to be able to boast that he defeated Batman in hand to hand combat... And he is also smart enough to have figured out how to recreate Ra's Ah Ghul's Lazarus Pits. Jack only plotted and drew one issue (where this panel comes from), but the series was reassigned to writer Martin Pasko and artist Pablo Marcos who continued it for 8 issues.
