You think that he’s mindlessly saying “sheep” or anything along those lines for no reason? Just because his Chinese zodiac is a sheep? Because we’ve constantly called him a lamb? That none of this has relevance??? That terms like “sheeple”, people who blindly and unthinkingly follow others, is relevant to his change in style?

I may be blowing this out of proportions but like honestly, things are not always what they appear. Speaking of which, I’m sure you’ve heard the allegory “sheep’s clothing”? Meaning that appearances are not what they appear to be? Yixing could be hiding something from us in a sense, and for a reason. (Or the M/V merely is showing how he’s not a meek as a sheep may be portrayed, ready take everyone down because of their underestimation of him and his abilities)
There’s also the term “battering ram”, which has the meaning of breaking through barriers and obstacles. Do you not recall him stating that he will lead Chinese music to the world? “I’m China’s sheep” and “I’m the lead sheep in the neighborhood” couldn’t be more relevant. (Also bellewethers? Lead (male) sheep in a flock???)
Also if you’re familiar with Christianity, I think you may recall the usage of “lamb of god”? Ring any bells as to how that was used?? OH YEAH, Jesus Christ. A symbol of sacrifice, the man who died for humanity’s sins. LAY BE TAKING AWAY YOUR SINS, SACRIFICING HIS ALL FOR HIS MUSIC AND US. May you be cleansed with his music. (Sheep were also historically sacrificed to gods and goddesses as offerings, especially because white sheep are seen as a symbol of purity)
There’s also other things a sheep may represent (Aries a ram: the first zodiac sign, associated with spring which is also tied to new beginnings (out with the old in with the new)), but overall, SHEEP isn’t that bad. You either hate it or you love it, it’s your opinion.
But I do find it very brave that he has explored a new genre, a new style, and he didn’t disappoint. If anything it proved how flexible he is musically, and that he can do many different things. I’m proud of him and his music, the song is really great to me. It started to grow on me, because overall musically (the beat and instrumental, mind you) and choreo wise, it’s amazing, everything else has some getting used to. I understand that to say that this tops Lose Control depends on your personal opinion, but you can’t exactly compare the two. They’re both different styles and stand at different levels, so it’s kind of unfair to say that one is better than the other. That’s your preference speaking, it’s not law. Also like, respect how hard he’s worked on this album. He’s proud of this song for a reason, just look for it.
