You will continue to teach and have your money stripped away from you because politicians who are supposed to be representing you care more about the bottom line and performance measurability than they do about a student’s individual capacity for abstract thought. You will teach these standardized questions and answers because your administrative staff treat your school like a business and the students like a product on an assembly line. For them, it doesn’t matter that the product won’t last up to the expectations of the real world or that the internal components are poorly put together by factory workers who can only make improvements by sacrificing their salary. All they care about is that these products come off the assembly line and are put into boxes that are stamped “Grade: A,” because the business of education only works when parents and employers buy into the idea that better packaging equals better product.

I am the only person that I know who vehemently subscribes to conflict theory. I would suggest steering the Anon Sociology major in the direction of Conflict Theory for a wonderful introduction to both Marxist and neo-Marxist thought.

I think that if patriarchy is dismantled, porn will change with it. However, right now it’s unnerving to me that men can and are expected to get off to the kinds of things that are currently produced by the porn industry – especially with no comprehension as to what that means socially and within hierarchical societal structures. So, essentially what I mean to say is, when a woman’s boyfriend faps to porn that, while not expressly rape, is still demeaning and lacking in consent and enthusiasm on the part of a woman, he may not understand how that affects their relationship, how it affects her personally, or how it affects women at large. His ignorance in this regard is part of his male privilege, and his inability or unwillingness to investigate the larger implications of his actions and interests is a perpetuation of that privilege and in turn, the dominance he is a part of.
