I hate that I've been so neglectful of my own blog. Anyway, here's an update on what I've been up to:

-Was hired as an immigration consultant for a corporate law firm

-Was fired from said corporate immigration firm after three months, due to my performance not being up to their standards. Mind you, they knew I had no immigration background before I joined the team. However, I don't mind the change, I felt the misalignment. I have no interest in immigration law, so now I can get back in alignment w. my true calling

-New car and first credit card!

-Finally picking up LSAT prep for real this time

-Reconnected w. an older friend and joined her campaign as she runs for a state level position

-Had another candidate show interest in having me join his team after I challenged him on data centers during a local meeting

-Currently reading "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov

How absolutely pathetic are y'all. This chat gps is truly an infectious plague that needs to be terminated along with its cult. No really, because how is it that students and members of “studyblr” and other little communities related to academia are casually posting things like “I was talking to chat gps..." Are u not embarrassed? Do u not see yourselves? Do y'all lack self awareness? Get fucked and get bent.

I completely forgot about my blog- but I'm back.

Updates for those who were keeping up with me

- I resigned from my position at the firm - I took my LSAT in November but had to retest because there was ongoing construction at my testing location that was very distracting - I was unsatisfied with my LSAT score and will be retesting once again - I obtained my passport last year and got it stamped when I left the country to visit my family abroad - I also became a dual citizen!

Friday

My PCP doctor appointment was cancelled. How annoyinggg. I really need to talk to my pcp about a specific medication, and now I have to wait for rescheduling. Due to cramps, I spent the whole day resting and drifting in and out of naps. God bless those little heating pad patches you can stick on to your clothes.

Saturday

I took my mom to this cute little brunch place where we shared this big plate of biscuits with gravy and some mojitos. We sat at the bar since it was just us two, and I think the bartender was flirting with me a little bit- I didn't pursue it tho. We spent the rest of the day running tiny luxury errands for makeup, and other little unnecessary necessities.

Sunday

Dad wanted a cookout, so we had a cookout. I spent some time following up on my research while he prepped everything. My boss assigned me to research the Hague Convention after I mentioned my interest in international law because she needs to see how it ties in with something specific.

Monday

I slept in. It was gloomy and rainy. Surprisingly it wasn't humid, it felt nice and cool outside. However, I had to run some errands so I spent most of the day doing that, as well as prepping my things (and self) for the week. I'm working full time now. I only worked two days a week, and now I'm going in Tues-Fri. I'm assuming I have Mondays off because I spoke about it, since I have too many doctor appointments and need a designated appointment and errand day.

I mentioned being a legal assistant for a law firm specializing in civil and family cases- well this is a relatively small firm. It's the main attorney, her mom who works as a paralegal, her aunt/godmother who takes on office management and paralegal duties, and then me, working alongside them. This is a family family law firm. So naturally, the dynamic is a bit off, and even problematic at times- for me at least. I've already encountered certain issues at the firm due to this, and I'm waiting for my appointment with my counselor to help me navigate this in a professional manner while keeping things as nice as possible in the firm.

I'm so glad I decided to go back to therapy counseling

Groceries I've been into lately. Notice the pumpkin spice. Idc idc that it's too early. August is fall in spirit. You can feel the melancholy and nostalgia of fall creeping in the air. You can feel it lingering. Hovering- ready to pounce on us and engulf us in the arms and memories of Octobers past.

𝟶𝟻.𝟶𝟼.𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟻

I've been working at this firm for about two months now and the novelty is wearing off and the cracks in the work environment are showing, so that's fun 🙃 I have like ten open cases I'm handling as of now, and various leads as well as a new attorney I'll be shadowing.

The stress is a bit overwhelming in the moment, but I'm definitely getting better at compartmentalizing. I love getting in the shower and "washing off" the stress; picturing the stress is being carried by the stream of water and down the drain.

Something that's been upsetting me however, is the casual use of AI in the office. Obviously no one is feeding personal info to the system, but still. The office manager constantly talks about using chat gps to help her with emails. But girl- if you can't even draft an email on your own, then what are you doing handling our client's most stressful and low points of their life? Still Corporate 9-5 life and stress > retail/food life and stress

I was so exhausted on Friday that I slept through the night and most of Saturday. Work has been draining me mentally, emotionally and footically (not a word, but these heels are killing me lol).

I ran some errands Sunday and nursed someone through a hungover. Today was spent with a professional connection to establish a lead for a major event that I want to host for the organization I'm involved in and my therapy session.

I thought I was going to leave my therapy session in tears, but I think I might be processing through things a lot better than I expected because I didn't even tear up and I had some great introspection in the situation.

It is now 1:32 AM Tuesday May 20 and I'm waiting to be lulled to sleep by the severe thunderstorm that is going on outside my window.

Tomorrow's Agenda:

-lunch with mom during hour -follow up emails -follow up calls with clients re: evidence needed -complete practice lsat exam -registration
