Wheatley had noticed the precise moment the new multiverse opened in the spacious chamber that had become, in a sense, a colourful gallery of universal gateways. The loud shriek of metal snapping then crashing the floor jolted the core from his busy occupation of playing no-brakes-coaster with his slanty bit of rail.
"Whu-Hello? Oh, god, did that kill anybody?" A high, electrical whine burst forth as the core darted along his aged and lopsided track, slightly telescoping his faceplate to peer through the wobbling oval splat upon a degrading panel wall. It seemed the portal had opened to another dimension, another Aperture, in quite the inappropriate location-- at least it must have been inappropriate if that severed chunk of ventilation fan shattered on the floor was any indication.
"Yep, wow, look at that. Completely destroyed." Wheatley clucked disapprovingly as he squinted into the new world, his honeycomb iris skimming left and right rapidly to survey the damage his machine had caused. "Is anybody around? At all? Listen, you might want to consult your insurance, if you are nearby! Seems some lousy construction finally kicked the bucket, amazing it hadn't fallen off sooner." He paused briefly before, "... anybody?"
