Houses
As she walked by houses, she imagined living in one with her family. Her husband and their kids. She let this daydream continue as her mind wandered further into its own depths, bringing up memories of Stephen. Stephen, the man she loved with all her heart. The man she left. She started walking faster. She was getting closer to her moms house.
Mom was happy to see her when she arrived. Mom would always say that since she was single, they could spend all their time together. She rolled her eyes and smiled. Of course mom would say that, she has been so lonely since her divorce with Dad was finalized. She smiled wider.
“Mom, what are we doing tonight?” she asked. Mom smiled mischievously. She knew that smile.
“Okay, don’t be mad, but my friend Marcy has a son that is quite shy, although he is a looker, better than that Stephen boy,” Mom squealed.
“Mom! I really wish you just wouldn’t talk about him. It....hurts.” I stated, even sounding deflated to her own ears.
“He wasn’t good for you,” Mom shrugged, ignoring her tone, “This boy will be good for you.”
And thats how all of their conversations go. Mom dismissing the love she held for another man, the one her mom despised.
