Okay, but Discourse, with slight Star Wars the Last Jedi spoilers, enough that Iâll tag it.
What color should Reyâs lightsaber be?
âCause like. I think it shouldnât be blue, so then we can differentiate between that and Luke/Anakinâs old lightsaber. And obviously it canât be Red because Red=Sith.
It COULD be Green, paralleling the change in colors for Luke Skywalkerâs lightsaber in Jedi. However that is actually a bit of a detractor for me, given that her whole shtick is âsomething newâ for the jedi.Â
Purple could work, like Mace Winduâs, but I feel like itâs SO TIED to Windu, it wouldnât work âcause of that.Â
A pure White sword might be interesting, a blank slate, but I feel like it might look too similar to Lukeâs sword, and besides, it just might be....weird visually.Â
Iâm throwing my hat in for Yellow, which is the color of the old Sentinelâs saber staffs, and I think she should get a saber staff to match her fighting style. Plus, ya know, Sentinels, all about protection, some good messages, good vibes in there.Â
Thoughts? Opinions?Â
4,5,6,12 star wars asks
4. what headcanon will you defend to the death?
I donât know about to the death, but probably the âLuke immediately felt his twin force connection to Leia when he saw her and mistook it as attraction, as heâd never felt that way about a woman before (or ever would again)â
5. what planet would you most like to visit?Â
I wanna see what Alderaan was like before it asploded.
6. what planet would you most like to live on?
Naboo, I suppose. I like the water, and fight me, I still wanna go to the gungan city.
12. do you care who reyâs parents are?
Ish. I care about her backstory, if that makes sense, and if that includes her parents, jolly good. More than her lineage, I want to know who the FUCK left that baby girl to be a scavenger on a desert planet. Like what the fuck, you had best have a fucking good reason for that shit. Surely if you were just going to put her in hiding you could have gotten her a guardian who was not an exploitive asshole? like....guys....
Star Wars Episode 8 has a title now, called âThe Last Jedi,â and my Dad came up with a brilliant theory that I think youâll all like.
Weâre pretty sure that the Jedi in question is Luke Skywalker.Â
Which could indicate that instead of continuing on with the tradition, instead of being trained to lead a new line of Jedi Users, as Luke had once intended, Rey instead will be the first in a new line of Force-Users. Sheâll still HAVE the force, and a lightsaber, and cool things, BUT she will move away from the inherently flawed system of the old order.Â
Small changes to Rogue One
This is literally a few changes that could have really helped the overall story by changing a few lines/adding or changing a scene or two/etc. These are not changes meant to affect the overall theme or premise to the movie, just to help what they already made of the story. And story specifically, not getting into other things (like, yes, they needed more women/diverse women, but thats some casting choices, and Iâm literally JUST looking at story here)
Change Adult!Jynâs opening scene to be about how she got arrested. The reason this is important is a) we get TWO scenes of her being in jail, weâll get back to her being in jail in a second, when sheâs rescued, so we donât need this first one. Secondly, from the trailers and general knowledge of the Star Wars Universe, we automatically assume sheâs in jail for being a rebel, so its a surprise and somewhat jarring to see her say sheâs NOT with the rebel alliance later. So, show her doing petty theft or something.
When Jyn is being taken to Jedha, switch out her flashback dreams of being with her father, and her father being taken away with a scene of teenage!Jyn with Saw Gerrara. This is again to do with repetitiveness, weâve SEEN her father being taken before. Yes, it haunts her, maybe you can still include a flash, but it doesnât help us, the audience. However, showing Jyn and Saw will help to actually establish the relationship between them before they see each other again. Personally, I think the scene should also show Jynâs desire for a replacement father figure (highlighting that distress the movie wanted to give Jyn anyway) but Saw trying to turn her into a soldier for the rebel cause (thus highlighting his weird obsession without just saying it 1,000 times)
Another case of switching out scenes, GET RID OF THE WEIRD TENTACLE MONSTER. All you need is a stolen imperial torture device (like the one used on Leia in a new hope) Show it briefly, we remember what it does, or can assume what happens based on Bodhiâs screams of pain and THEN cut to a flashback of Galen Erso giving Bodhi the plans and encouraging him. This will help establish Galenâs sorta mentorship to Bodhi, and Bodhiâs desire to become a rebel.
Have Bodhi referred to as, either in the above flashback, or in the wanted hologram things referred to as a âRogue Pilot.â Thus when he and the whole team goes Rogue at the end, it makes sense he chooses it for their call sign.Â
Have a reaction or something from Cassian when Jyn saves the child in the middle of the rebel fight? SOMEthing as to why he decides to help save her life at every turn, something in conversation, in her actions that makes him decide to kill a rebel and disobey orders etc. etc. for her. Honestly, it doesnât have to be all that big, and it certainly doesnât have to be an attraction (in fact, please donât) but something.
Give Saw Gerrara some kind of reason to stay behind? Maybe he was going to try and escape with Jyn and Cassian, but then boulders fell, separating a chasm between Jyn, Saw, and the ship, and he used like...a rocket or some kind of...IDK SOMETHING to propel Jyn, thus saving her life but sacrificing his own. Thats just an example, but have him die for SOMETHING man, there was no reason for him to just stand there except to look cool. And thats not a good enough reason.Â
Have Galenâs message cut out before he can really say what the secret flaw of the death star IS. Or, maybe he can say the thing about the reactor, but NOT about where the plans are being kept. This will lead to an interesting scene of Jyn saying âNo, he left a weakness in the plans on purpose! We just have to shut down the reactor core!â and Cassian says âAnd how do we know what that is?â And Jynâs all, âI...didnât get to that part....â *scoffs from Cassian and/or K2* âThe city was exploding! Look, my FATHER knows where it is. If we rescue him, we can take him back to the rebellion and he can tell everyone.â This puts more strain on Cassianâs decision of âdo I or do I not kill him. If I leave him alive, he MIGHT be able to help us, if what Jyn says is true. But she could be lying to save her father...â Thus the entirety of his decision NOT to kill Galen rests on how he trusts Jyn. ALSO This means that as Galen lays dying in Jynâs arms, she can get the rest of the message. He could say, âScariffâ and then, his last word would be âStardustâ This goes as double for showing his caring about his daughter and telling her the name of the plan. This whole thing just means there is more to advancing the plot in this whole scene on Eudu beyond âget imperial shipâ and âwatch Galen die.âÂ
As Jyn and Bodhi are giving their information to try and sneak into the Empire, and theyâre waiting in tense silence, have Jyn holding onto her necklace (like she is in the movie) but change it to Chirrut sitting next to her. He will give the line âKyber crystals help one to focus the forceâs energy. The force is one with you. Are you one with the force?â She screws up her face in concentration, focusing, focusing, and then theyâre let through. This backs up a personal theory of mine that I find extremely important, that Jyn was subtly (very subtly) using the force to convince the imperial dude to overlook the false codes given and convince him to let them in. Reyâs first conscious use of the force was mind manipulation, plus, as Chirrut said, Jyn has this Kyber crystal to help her focus the force energy even when she is not a jedi. This helps alleviate the Chekovâs gun of Jynâs necklace, having it actually be used for a purpose instead of just being there.Â
(My most expensive change) GIVE BAZE A BETTER DEATH. Like, everyone else died directly after completing their goal. Chirrut pushed a button. Jyn got the plans up. Cassian saved Jynâs life so she could do that. Bodhi told people to open the gates. K2 protected Jyn and Cassian to the last. Now we have Baze. Baze is such a badass he takes down tons of soldiers when heâs just protecting Chirrut. Now Chirrutâs dead and Baze knows heâs gonna die, but fuck all, heâs going to take out as many imperial fuckwads with him. They filched the temple he was sworn to protect and then destroyed it along with his whole city, his home, and now theyâve killed the one person he still had in his miserable life. He is one with the fucking force, and dammit all if the force isnât one with him. In the movie he takes down, what, 3 storm troopers in this? HELL NO THAT AINT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE BAZE OF GLORY (see what I did there) No, you know what I want? I want Baze to take down a fucking imperial walker. YOU HEARD ME. LIKE FUCKING LEGOLAS ON AN OLIPHANT JUST GET THE FUCK UP THERE, SHOOT THE WINDOWS OUT AND DESTROY EVERYTHING HE CAN TOUCH. IN FACT, USE THE WALKER TO TAKE DOWN ANOTHER WALKER, AND DIE IN THE EXPLOSION BETWEEN THE TWO. There is plenty of awesome in this whole battle scene enough, but that would be the moment of Awesome that like, is a whole other level of AWESOME.Â
And, uh, thats all I got really. I would love to know about some more things in general, but these are the changes I think that would have lent better to the story, without honestly adding much more to the screen time, or even to the budget in some cases. So. Yeah.

you know, I REALLY wish the star wars prequels were better movies because somedays I really do feel like the world is going to hell and the best/easiest thing for me is if I just took over and ruled everything, and I wish they made that more evident for Anakin, former slave who has seen the cruelties of the universe, and worse the apathy of those in charge. Like. That is a solid-ass story how did they screw that up.Â
for the fic challenge: Star Wars, 20
(you know, it occurs to me....I donât think Iâve ever really written for star wars. hmm.)
âHail to the glorious First Order!â General Hux shouted over the array of storm troopers. âHail to the new Supreme Leader, Kylo Ren!â
Kyloâs holographic image was projected high above, looking down at Hux and the others. Finn knew their relationship was tenuous at best, and if he was reading Hux right, the General was not pleased with the way things had settled.Â
He didnât need the Force to feel Reyâs voracious anger, but she held still, her wiry frame holding steady in her stormtrooper armor. They werenât here to fight, they were here to spy. As delicious as vengeance might be, the last thing they needed was for Kylo Ren to smell them out, or else theyâd both rot in a cell and the rebellion would be doomed.Â
Word Palatte Challenge
(Iâm on set and bored so prepare for some rambling text posts)
Solo spoilers:
Imagine if instead of being his life partner, Quiâra was Hanâs protege, someone who followed him around as a kid, and he ended up protecting from the mobs etc. and became like an older brother figure too.
I feel like that would have some more impact for leaving her behind if he was more in a position where it had been his job, essentially, to protect her and he failed (without getting into sexist tropes of âthe man had to protect his womanâ)
And then, when he sees her again, as he slowly figured out what sheâs had to become in order to survive on her own...that I feel hits a bit harder than âoh my girlfriends with a bad mob guy.â
Plus, we could then have Han the flirt who keeps trying to seduce people and be cool and stuff but fails horribly and he could have that affair with Lando so that wouldnât be just vague subtext
Anyway just my opinion, and to help her be a little something other than âthe girlâ
