unfortunately yeah i do headcanon tf out of five being a functioning alcoholic and also a chronic cigarette / cigar smoker in a non-s4 timeline. in what world would he cope healthily. not this one
to me, a five post s3 ends up becoming a physics professor and he spends literally all of his time in a very humble apartment that he keeps tidy enough, sort of. apocalypse habits don’t die so easily and things tend to pile up quickly, like books and paperwork and things of the sort. like that old man 100% has tons of bookshelves but also has just stacks of books on the floor.
and he lives with a giant but very gentle mr. pennycrumb and he has his own coffee maker and he doesn’t really have many friends. he’s on ok terms with a few people but he mostly keeps to himself.
he talks with his siblings not too often, but enough to remember their voices. every once in a while klaus or luther show up to see what he’s up to. allison calls the most, but she called more before he had physically turned 18 because she was worried about how he was getting on and if he needed any help. diego called almost as much as her, his built in dad instincts having kicked in early for his little-big brother. five’s favorite days, though, are the ones where he gets to catch up with viktor.
most days, his body wakes him up earlier than he’d like, he reads the paper and has a cup of coffee, gives a few lectures, does some grading, then comes home to collapse on the couch with his dog and a glass of scotch that he almost never finishes before he falls asleep. like a true old man
