Lauma just had another unnecessary encounter with another Fatui group who were up to no good around Hiisi Island. The Moonchanter held herself in high regard for hardly ever choosing to resolve any issue with violence, animal or human. However, when backed into a corner she has absolutely no hesitance when it comes to the protection of the Scion’s and Kuutar. 

In their miserable attempt at an escape the Fatui had thrown a canister of some strange powder towards Lauma who had used her vision at the same time to protect the animals that chose to accompany her. After thoroughly checking each and every one of the creatures that she had by her side, she finally ducked back into the Scion’s where she looked for Vilemena to help run a look over herself. 

“I must say Moonchantress, you really should avoid any more run-ins with the Fatui. Who knows what else they could have done to you,” Vilemena reprimanded Lauma as she did a general welfare check up. “However, upon first glance you appear to be alright, I doubt there could have been any adverse reactions to your vision and whatever that was in the canister.” 

“Thank you, Vilemena. Could you wrap up the canister for me as well please?” 

Shortly after, Lauma went about her duties at the Scions as though it was a regular day, until her skin started feeling abnormally sensitive and warm. Particularly whenever someone would graze her accidentally whilst innocently passing her an item. At first she tried to ignore it, she was already abnormally sensitive to kuuvahki, perhaps this was just an additional side effect today.

“Jahoda, I do believe that I’ve warned you against giving out information free of charge,” Nefer sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose. 

“Oh- but I didn’t- Agh- I guess I did- I’m so sorry Boss Nef, please give me one more chance I’ll be more careful with my big mouth next time!” Jahoda fell into her typical rambling nature under the piercing gaze of her boss. 

“It’s fine Jahoda, make sure not to repeat this event in the future. Otherwise I’d be more than happy to take it out of your paycheck.” 

“Thank you thank you thank you, you have my word Boss– huh?” As Jahoda was showing her gratitude, she halted herself mid sentence with the sounds of delicate knocking against the thick metal doors of the Curatorium. “Oh- uh- were we still expecting customers Boss?” 

“Not that I know of at least.” Nefer was curious as she made her way to the door to let in the new customer.

It was safe to say that Nefer was taken by complete surprise when she opened the doors and was met with a rather dischevelled looking Moonchanter. “Miss Lauma? To what do I owe the pleasure?” 

The two hadn’t made their relationship known to anyone else yet, so despite the concern, Nefer kept up appearances. 

Whereas, when Nefer made her appearance to the dear Moonchanter, it took every fibre of her being not to pounce the woman right there. Lauma had already heard Jahoda from outside the door so she did her extreme best to keep things as discreet as possible. 

She leaned in to whisper in Nefer’s ear, “I promise to explain what’s happening momentarily, but please I desperately need you alone in this instance.” Her tone carried a new strain that Nefer had never heard off before, only arousing more suspicions with the intelligence gatherer. Nefer couldn’t do much else than just trust Lauma, so she agreed and told her to go wait in the back of the Curatorium while she sent Jahoda away. 

Lauma couldn’t bring herself to make polite conversation with Jahoda or Ashru who were both looking at her with curious eyes. So, she quickly scurried into the back, praying that Nefer would help her out of this, but the very second she made her way into Nefer’s back room, everything in there only grew the ache within her. The incense that flooded the air went straight to Lauma’s head because it just smelled like her girlfriend. 

“Oh! Is everything alright Boss?” Jahoda had a few run-ins with Lauma but she’d never seen her this skittish before. 

“Just business Jahoda, and speaking of which, I was going to bring this up earlier before we were interrupted but I have a new trail I need you to follow, think you can handle that for me?” replied Nefer. 

Jahoda’s eyes lit up into two golden stars at the news, she thought that Nefer was for sure going to put her on desk duty with Ashru for the next few days to teach her a lesson but she was immediately getting handed another commission! Maybe today was just her lucky day! 

“Yes! Absolutely! You got it Boss! I won’t let you down!” She saluted back to her Nefer before she had her papers in hand and sprinted right out the door. 

Before Nefer went to go see to Lauma, she suddenly remembered that Lauma and Ashru had the ability to communicate regularly and she had a sneaking suspicion that her girlfriend really needed her alone given the disarrayed state she appeared in earlier. 

“Ashru, kitty, make sure she doesn’t get into much trouble and keep her out of the Curiotorium until tomorrow alright?” 

Right after receiving a small meow back in confirmation, she let her little kitty out of the Curatorium, she proceeded to close up for the day by locking the doors and heading towards the back. However, as she opened the door just ajar, her ears already caught the softest sigh escape from the room within and it almost sounded– sexual?

Nefer stood by the door with her arms crossed as she listened to Lauma intently, already irritated with the Fatui that seemed to be relentless with their move into that segment of Nod Krai, but it quickly turned into surprise when she watched Lauma practically beg for her. 

“Let me get this straight– you accidentally created an aphrodisiac with your vision and an unknown substance from the Fatui?” Nefer raised an eyebrow back towards her girlfriend who’d already started grinding her hips down into her mattress for some sort of relief. Never in Nefer’s wildest dreams could she have imagined these types of circumstances, it was almost laughable.

“To be completely honest, Nefer, I’m unaware. I had Vilemena perform a general check up on me and she said everything looked normal, and she wrapped up the canister I left on your desk over there, but please I cannot express how carnally I desire you at this moment.” 

Nefer would have absolutely loved to have indulged in her needy girlfriend but given the circumstances she believed that she needed to investigate the canister to ensure their safety first and foremost. Besides, she figured that she could actually have a little bit of fun with this.

Nefer took a moment to pause and consider her options now; her girlfriend had the patience of an absolute saint, so this was certainly an opportunity that wouldn’t present itself to Nefer again in the near future. “Nefer, must I really–”

“What’s wrong Lauma? I’d assumed you wanted all the help you could get with your little situation right now,” Nefer looked back at Lauma, blinking innocently. 

“You are terribly cruel.” 

“I could also just walk away and get back to work, my love. I feel like my request is perfectly reasonable.” 

“Alright, I concede, please I’ll comply, just get the device please, my moonlight, I accept your proposal as long as you investigate that forsaken canister as quickly as possible, please– Nefer.” 

It was like a pot that had been quietly simmering for far too long, and Lauma couldn’t help but lose her patience under the circumstances. She knew that Nefer was in a position of power over her now and the Moonchantress could play these games regularly but on Kuutar’s name, not today. It’d been overwhelming from the moment she stepped into this room, and now Nefer was hardly a foot away from her, it was like waving treasure in front of a sniffer mole back at the Scion’s and expecting it not to at least try and take it.

Feeling rather pleased with herself, Nefer leaned in to place a gentle kiss onto Lauma’s forehead before leaving to go fetch her bargaining chip. 

As soon as Nefer turned her back, Lauma threw herself back onto her mattress, letting out a long exhale. If that was going to be how the rest of her evening was going to play out, may Kuutar bless her with a bountiful amount of patience and resilience. On the pillows themselves, Lauma got another whiff of Nefer’s shampoo and it only reanimated her innate need for her.
