1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?

Depends on the company he keeps and what kind of manipulation he’s aiming at. Laucian is a chameleon, he’s adept at forming first impressions and at adapting to however he needs to appear to further his goals. By himself, he moves very easily, rarely hesitates or dawdles, simply picks a course of action and carries it out - whether this is playing music, pouring himself a drink, or working.With someone he feels he’s smarter than, he’ll relax a little more and almost try to lull them into a false sense of security by smiling and accidentally-on-purpose making minor slips of language or social niceties. He’ll speak less formally and more quickly, gesture more, go off-topic. Anything to make him appear more fallible than he is to somebody who is already prepared to underestimate or attempt to relate to him on a personal level. With someone more perceptive or antagonistic (such as Lyra), he’ll drop the bullshit and become his more calculating self. Indirect, formal, gestures at a minimum except those designed to make him look thoughtful. He uses his outward state of being as a weapon to steer a conversation, and it’s in this mood that he can halt proceedings with a simple gesture. During a conversation he will rarely look elsewhere other than you - and if he does, you still never quite feel out of his gaze. This is Laucian at his most dangerous. Quiet, cold, and smiling.14. What do they care deeply about? What kind of loyalties, commitments, moral codes, life philosophies, passions, callings, or spirituality and faith do they have? How do these tend to be expressed?

Laucian cares deeply about Laucian. He’s the kind of morally grey that wouldn’t necessarily have him fantasizing about genuinely evil doings, but he has no opposition to them as long as he can believably get away with them. He’ll ruin his father’s life to get onto the throne for a sliver of power. He’ll psychologically torture Lyra because he could see how influential she could be and resented sharing the same light. Believe it or not though, he does actually care about the Xiloscient name. He just believes that he’s the best person to carry it through, and that the old ways are far better than the new, more liberal ideas his father was beginning to install.
