"It's not even that bad!" thinks Bernardette when she arrives at Sandy's house. It's a rustic cabin in woodsy town. It almost look like a lumberjack's house, and sure there are some more... questionable decorations around (like a broken car and its dirty tires), but there are aldo things that speaks of a child living here. And Bernardette thinks Sandy's childhood was a little bit better than she imagined.
Her father meets her at door. Edvard Krogh hugs her happily: "Hey sport! Got a new cut?" Bernardette touches her short locks sheepishly "Uhm, yeah, I needed a change..." Her father smiles and says "It looks good, you did a good job, as always!" Bernardette can't help but smiling back and mutter a "Thanks!". Then Edward sits at the table with a tired sigh. He looks and sounds worried when he announces to Bernardette that he'll be away all day tomorrow too for his job. "Sorry, sport. Maybe next weekend we could go fishing in Henford, but this week will be very busy for me." "Oh, okay..." replies Bernardette. She doesn't really know what to say, and Sandy warned to not get too personal in asking about personal stuff to his father. Edvard mistakes her behaviour for delusion and tries to assure her: "I'm working on a big surprise for you, Sandy! I'm sure you'll like it!"
Later that night, Sandy (disguised as her twin sister Bernardette) comes home to Marina. She in awe at seeing her mother for the first time. Marina hugs her happily, then steps back to look at her: "Oh my gosh! What happened to your hair, Bernie?!" "Oh right!"exclaims Sandy/Bernie "I cut it!" "You mean by yourself??" asks Marina surprised. "Yeah! You like them?" Marina looks at her daughter and seeing her so genuinely happy (although she doesn't know the real reason) can't help nodding: "It really suits you, after all. But next you better ask me first! Now come, time for bed!" "But it's not even 9:30!" replies Sandy/Bernie. "Well, 9:30 would be way past your bedtime, miss!" Dansy/Bernie is a little taken aback. In her house bedtime is usually around midnight, sometimes even later! But when in Rome...
