For Old Time’s Sake
This is my last post as mathilde2point0endeavorpoetry. I must say that I am a little nostalgic. It is the end of a journey... For my last post, I chose to write about the also very nostalgic poem, Auld Lang Syne.
To me, this poem by Robert Burns expresses the importance of remembering the past. It is a call to preserve our culture.
More specifically, this song asks for the preservation of Burns’ Scottish culture. It includes the Scots language e.g., “auld lang syne” meaning “for old time’s sake”. Scots was already an endangered language at Burns’ epoch. Nowadays, Scots still needs to be protected.

“Should auld acquaintance be forgot / And never brought to mind? / Should auld acquaintance be forgot, / And auld lang syne!” (Macdonald & McWhir 371)
No! “Auld acquaintance” should not and will not be forgot. We will remember for “auld lang syne”.

My first cosplay... dear lord. I don't have a single decent image of it. In 2012 I was 16 holy shit 😱 and I still didn't liked my picture taken, even in cosplay.
