ok at this point im a madman screaming about things but
1. the fact that shawn said that lmao. and conforth in the back trying to see what shawn is going to say to descalate the situation as an officer in training. But totally enjoying the moment not as an instructor bc what Sawn said is totally what he would have said to Lassiter when they were at the academy together.
2. lassie stomping his feet n angrily trying to get out the car. because he got so annoyed at them so fast and he was ready to fight them. 5 years of shawn and gus pulling nonsense on lassie that he's ready to jump and fight within 2 seconds lmao. He was ready to list everything out on why he's right and Shawn's wrong. "first of all, you don't have a taser, and second of all, you can't arrest me, because you're just a cadet and I'm a detective performing his duties, [list goes increasingly petty and childish]"
3. shawn being an idiot and totally acting out his childhood fantasy he had with gus. Also side note i think half of the time it's not shawn alone being dumb but GUS also. I swear it's probably gus convincing shawn to do the things they wanted to as children and it's shawn letting gus indulge
4. conforth deriving great pleasure from getting all technical on Lassiter. From Lassiter arguing with Shawn, he saw the good old Lassiter he's known since the academy (Always arguing that he's right). So he falls back into his habit and tries to cite the rules and the laws. (clasic LaRusso behavior also sidenote lol) He tries to win by going by the books, sticking to the rules. Lassiter on the other hand, always has been about ignoring the rules! and shouting at you until he wins! Conforth is deriving immense pleasure from gritting his teeth and threateningly saying "the law is the law." I bet they had a similar dynamic going on back in the academy. Conforth saying "the rule is the rule" all the time to determine who wins this daily dose of competition and rivalry (homoerotic).
None of this is lost to Shawn meanwhile. He grew up with his parents fighting, this situation is so easy to read for him. Trying to insert jokes to diffuse the situation
5. "yea lassie don't say shit like that... you're even making me embarrassed for knowing you"
6. gus in the background 100% ready to get graded & complimented on his great first arrest. adding "Maybe he has been drinking" to corroborate his cause of arrest. he's still taking this 100% seriously
