all his siblings have a sort of defining characteristic that makes them stand out amongst the others. lemmys the fun one, iggys the smart one, roys hot, whatever, what does larry have? it feels like as the youngest hes an amalgamation of his siblings and thats all people see when they see him. oh you got this from wendy, you got this trait from ludwig, youre so much like your brother, and all larry wants is to be larry. authentically larry. not bits and pieces of his siblings mashed together into one kinda mediocre guy.

terminal youngest child syndrome. yes juniors younger but he has the advantage of being bowsers biological son, which larry does not have. fucks sake. stupid adoption. as the youngest hes gotta live up to the standards set by everyone else and thats pretty fuckin hard to do when half your siblings are either geniuses or business conglomerates that could buy and sell you. haha so fun. hes definitely having a really good time. its a lot of pressure and it feels like hes doing everything wrong in life, like he doesnt have everything figured out when he should because they did (they didnt), like hes on the bottom of the totem pole and every attempt to get his foot on the ladder is met with being kicked back down because someone else has done something incredible and hes just larry.

every day feels like a fight for bowsers attention and he forces himself to overcompensate for his (perceived) shortcomings by doing literally anything he can to claw his way to the forefront of bowsers mind, even just for a minute. so larry forces himself to push himself beyond what he wants to do in order to even have a chance at a scrap of fatherly affection; a ruffle of his hair or a good job son mean the world in the dog eat dog system the pressure in the koopa castle creates. maybe it isnt so bad, maybe things will get better when hes better, better than the others, when his name means something to someone and hes not just a Guy.

bowser seems like hed think competition builds character. pitting seven dysfunctional kids against each other surely will cause no problems. he thinks a little competition is good for them, itll make them strive to work harder, and sure maybe it does do that but that is not always a good thing, pops. he'd probably compare his kids to each other, and larrys often subject to this because he doesnt have such a defined tangible personality as the others. in bowsers eyes at least. why cant you be as sensible as ludwig? why cant you be as sociable as lemmy? why cant you be as hardworking as morton? ok dad. whatever you say dad. ill go be a better amalgamation of my siblings dad.

larry has big dreams and big dreams mean big expectations. i think when bowser started off with the koopalings, taking them in was seen as an investment. he'd get something out of it later, whether it be fame or money from their various pursuits, and larry has grown up with that mantra instilled in him even if bowser no longer necessarily upholds that line of thinking. most of the time anyway. every goal feels like it needs to be beat, every dream must be put into action, he has to do everything and anything because thats what dad wants, what he expects, and even if thats not necessarily true its hard to shake those ideals. especially when hes seen bowsers reaction to things not going exactly to plan with his siblings.

larrys siblings have a much more defined idea of who they are (because theyre older) and he doesnt have that (because hes 14) and whilst in pursuit of trying to figure out who he is, every venture he tries feels like hes trying to fill shoes too big. oh you wanna be a musician? good luck living up to your musical prodigy older brother. youre thinking about being an athlete? your sisters an olympian. dont even TRY in academia, iggys got it covered. it feels like his achievements are in some imaginary competition with theirs and it SUCKS. haha cant look like he cares too much though haha it doesnt hurt haha no big deal theyre fuckin nerds anyway who cares haha.
