I never thought I’d draw LapTumu again, but you guys have been so nice ?? and ??? I never thought anyone would be interested in them? ;o; I feel like since the story has developed, LapTumu has sort of drifted apart, but idk it’s like when you have a good friend that you haven’t seen or heard from in months or years and you see each other again and it’s just as good as when you last saw them. So here’s to those good good friendships

A couple people have asked me what I think Atumu’s relationship would be with the other Crystal Gems (especially Peridot ... a lot of people curious about the Peridot-Atumu dynamics...) and what I wanna say is I don’t think he does interact with them? Ever? I mean you all are welcome to suggest possible interactions if you want but
In general, LapTumu came about because they faced very similar struggles and had very similar traumas. They were both in a very bad place, and being able to see someone else struggling in very much the same way brought them together and helped them heal.
It’s the sort of thing where you just connect to someone on so deep a level, words don’t even need to be exchanged on the subject and you just kind of ... know. So they never really had to talk about their past traumas, but just being in each others’ presence was enough to move past it.
That said, as the events in the show have developed and Lapis has found her own path, I imagine they may have lost contact. Lapis can have her own life, as Atumu has his. But just because they are not always together does not mean they aren’t still tremendously important to one another. He’ll always be there to support her.
