Okeke! Uh, forewarning because I haven’t read the manga in a while (and I need to buy more volumes) so my grip on these characters is shaky at best.

20. wishing

The library is quite the quiet place to everyone except them. Because of their other’s chatter. And because they are attentive towards the soft, whispery humming of Lapis Lazuli.

They don’t mind never living in a world of silence. Not really. But sometimes, perhaps, they do wish…

“That’s so selfish!”

Ah, you really are noisy.

“And you’re cruel!”

“Ghost?”

They both snap up, breath catching. Lapis blinks at them, the gold specks of their hair catching light. And then, Lapis gives their usual enigmatic smile.

“You’re always so deep in thought,” they say. “I do so wish you would just relax. I worry that you’ll crack from overthinking.” Then, a giggle. “Both of you.”

They stand there, quiet, both in breath and in mind.

It’s only Lapis who can bring these brief moments.

They both agree with that thought. For once, living like this is just a little easier. And so, they smile softly in return.

“Sorry. You shouldn’t have to worry.”

“Why wouldn’t I? You’re my dear partner after all.”

“Just me?” They ask teasingly. The other one is gawking, but they once again draw silent as Lapis touches their cheek.

“Oh, Ghost.”

Lapis brushes their thumb across, giggling again.
