“I am not being paid for drunk duty...”
@irlmun from Starter Call: Lapis
Lapis sat in the waiting room as patiently as he could. Thankfully he was used to staying in one place for long periods of time without growing too bored. It was yet another weapon fix he needed to get new parts to handle. It wasn’t that he couldn’t do the repairs himself, but he needed the parts to be created and that was going to take time. Thankfully the weapon shop had space available so all he had to do was wait a while for it to be finished. A normal person would have just gone about their errands and came back later. Lapis instead chose to sit in the waiting room seemingly all day. By the clock he could tell about four hours had passed and several people had come and gone, some asking him questions about why he was there for so long. It wasn’t much to do but it was something.
So I got inspired while writing this with @teamoliv (sorry to blow up your notifications!)

Even with equipment, hauling a palette of wood was hard work. He planted his foot firmly on the rolling cart to force it to a stop. Yard 6 didn’t like to use hover palettes with their lumber. If it fell down, the planks went everywhere. He inspected the straps keeping it all in place and rolled his shoulder. That was going to ache later. Somehow this always hit him harder than the hecaball tackles. He turned to the recipient and held out his hand and a screen appeared in front of him.

“Lily, where are you taking me?”
“To see a friend!” Nilah was dragging Lapis through the streets of Aurora Vale to a specific storefront. The big sign of Deadly Darlings hung above a building.
She burst through the door of the shop with Lapis in tow. “CAAAAT! I brought him!”

The sight of what was left of Pineyard was something they thought they could handle. After all, they saw it on the news live. It was different seeing everything in person. Buildings were crushed, a lot of people were trying to live out their lives, while others argued angrily with what construction and relief teams were still here- a lot less than there used to be once the footage died down, of course. The usual suspects from each of the city’s major players were here in some way, but only in a way to say they were- or because they had something to gain. “Typical...”
“Well, it’s better than nothing.” Nilah remarks, trying to offset Lapis’s dour tone with a more uplifting one. “Come on, let’s see who’s around. We’ve been gone too long.” She rushes ahead to the crowd, waving and smiling to the faces she recognized.
Lazuli took a few cautious steps next to her brother. He was still staring out at the scene. She felt her chest tighten while she tried to force back tears at the still-damaged place. Who was here wasn’t as important as who wasn’t. “Is this... really going to be it?”
“Probably... Once the performers are out of the way, we can start actually rebuilding. The hell was Lily thinking, wanting me to go do that bounty hunter training? We’re needed here.” Lapis clenched his jaw and looked over to Lazuli. “Come on, let’s see what we have to do.”
“Pardon the detour, but I presume you know why we are here.”
“We’re after one of the escaped criminals.”
“A gang leader if the dossier is to be understood, and a common user of illusion technology. We had best be on our guard and incredibly careful.”
Ivory planted one of her targets onto the ground and used it to boost herself to the mall rafters. She overlooked the shopping area of Evergreen Basin carefully. She didn’t now the terrain as well as the richer ones. Still, she was the one with the sniper rifle. “I’ll let you know if I spot anything.”
“Follow me.” Lapis says starting ahead.
“Are you sure, Lapis?”
“I’m used to getting banged up. Just have my back.”
