When in canon does your s/i come in? Do they play a certain role in the plot?

I've got two different timelines for Barry and Lapin that I go back and forth on, but in my favorite of them right now, he's in the background for the grand tournament in Comida, but he doesn't really have any presence until the fighting starts in the cathedral in episode 6.

As for his role in the plot, Barry Rasmus was created for one specific plot purpose- to save Lapin. He also has some helpful information about Belizabeth Brassica's plans and such, but mostly he's there to save Lapin, and after that he's just sort of around because he's not letting Lapin out of his sight ever again.

Is your s/i superstitious? Does your s/i believe in the supernatural or things like astrology and tarot cards?

If your s/i had to describe themselves, what would that description be? Would they be honest with how they describe themselves?

He'd describe himself as awkward and obsessive and only fun to be around if you're a similar kind of weird. While that's basically true, he doesn't acknowledge that he's funny as hell and can be very warm and caring.

Does your s/i’s inclusion in the media’s plot change anything majorly? If so, what’s changed?

ohohohoho yes. Barry exists as a fix-it for Lapin dying, and my current primary version of our story has him preventing it in the first place, so yeah absolutely it changes everything. Honestly even beyond what I can guess, since I don't know a lot about Brennan's plans for the campaign.

Funnily enough, the biggest change, I think, isn't about Lapin not dying, but rather Preston not dying. Preston living means Liam doesn't reclass to gloomstalker, and those abilities both in and out of combat were so hugely impactful.

I think the Saccharina stuff also goes differently. If she's not the only outsider looking in on the Rocks family, maybe things go smoother, especially after she sees the mess that would be the sugar plum fairy fight. He could be something of a bridge between her and the family.

And, of course, if they know all the insight into the true nature of the Bulb and all that, that's powerful information to have and possibly use.

As for Barry himself, another healer is always a good thing, but otherwise I don't think he changes much. He's just kinda there and along for the ride, not much more than there because he refuses to leave Lapin's side.

If someone had to befriend your s/i, what’s the one thing they could do and/or say to immediately get on their good side?

The thing that drives Barry the most is his drive to learn as much as possible. Give him an opportunity to infodump and/or infodump yourself (especially about something he doesn't know much/anything about), and he's your best friend.

Are there any hobbies or interests that your s/i that you don’t also have?

9: "Flu Game" - How open are you about your relationship? Do you prefer to keep it private, only tell a selective few about it, or do you let everyone know about your relationship?

Lapin and I were separated for decades (and in some of our stories he literally died) we're not wasting a moment together. We are the most obnoxious PDA couple you've ever seen. In the version of our story where he died, I talked to Liam, Theo, and Amethar looking for information about him, and in the version where I save him in the cathedral, they all watched me defy the Pontifex to do so. Either way, there's no hiding even if we wanted to.

11: "The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years)" - What’s one thing your f/o has learned from you? It could be a skill, a certain topic you know a lot about, anything really. And vice versa— what’s something you have learned from them?

The alternate scenario for Barry and Lapin reuniting kept playing in my head, so I figured why not write it down.

I definitely skipped some turns of combat, compressing dnd bullet time into prose is never easy, and I chose pacing it the way I wanted to over technical accuracy lol

Making myself look away from La- Chancellor Cadbury, I scanned the faces of the other Candians. The children were so young, but the pain and fury in their eyes made them look much older than they did at the tournament, not twenty-four hours prior.

I couldn't blame them- between the Pontifex orchestrating the assassination attempt and what she just pulled with the Book of Leaves, that'd age anyone a lifetime.

The younger of the princesses, no, the former princesses, noticed me watching them.
