Another Amazing Kickstarter (Brooklyn Blooms Flowers NYC by LaParis Phillips —Kickstarter) has been published on http://crowdmonsters.com/new-kickstarters/brooklyn-blooms-flowers-nyc-by-laparis-phillips-kickstarter/
A NEW KICKSTARTER IS LAUNCHED:
About this project
LaParis, The Flower Enthusiast
While growing up in St. Louis I always admired plant life and gardening. Even though we didn’t have much money my mother still found it important to teach me about nature and to appreciate it’s beauty! Fast forward to college I found my way into the cutest flower shop in Columbia, MO, My Secret Garden, it was there where I found my passion for flowers and floral design. I worked as a florist all four years.
I moved to NYC in 2010 with the intent of landing a job in fashion, since that’s what my real passion was, Right? Wrong! My first job in NYC was at a flower shop as a matter of fact my next few jobs were in flower shops. Even later, as a visual merchandiser, I still found myself in flower shops as a freelancer. It was my “side hustle” which has now become my career! I mean, come on, it’s not every day you meet a African American florist under 30 with 10 years of floral experience!
People see real Passion
I am now in my 10th year of being a floral designer! When creating a floral arrangement I want the receiver to feel the same passion that I have for flowers. Being a floral designer is more than placing flowers in a vase, it’s a true art, hence the word “design”. I am able to bring the world to your coffee table by using flowers that have traveled from South Africa, Japan, Ecuador, California, Holland, and other far away places that many will never be able to experience. I love making this a reality for each and every person that receives a Brooklyn Blooms creation.
Community Building
As I always say, “Brooklyn Blooms is not only for me but for my community”. I want this space to be one that will bring in all types of flower lovers. I have done a “Mommy and Me” Flower Crown workshop in which everyone is anticipating the next one! I want to bring in other artist, writers, and entrepreneurs to the space to build a strong network of creatives. I have so many ideas for creative and educational workshops that will contribute to the Brooklyn Community!
Mommy & Me Flower Crown Workshop
What I Need From You
Your financial support is paramount to me locking down the same space I’ve been fortunate enough to have my pop up shop in. The $6,500 will allow me to pay first months rent and security. There is also supplies and materials such as flowers, vases, supplies, my website and a Square pos system that’s needed for the space. With your financial help I will also have a space to inspire, teach, and impact the youth of this great borough of Brooklyn and beyond!
Warmly,
LaParis Phillips
Risks and challenges
“If your not a risk taker you should get the hell out of business!”
Every business has its risks and challenges, the handling of them is what really counts! A challenge that I will have to face is not having the necessary walk-in clients to support the daily sales as an early stage business. However, this will just mean more advertising will be needed around my neighborhood and for me be active and involved in my community.
This is the only real challenge that I would have just starting out. Facing this challenge I will rely on continuing to grow my presence on social media and my community as I grow a stronger network.
