Darin Morgan's throwaway joke about civilian casualties in Muslim countries is the love child of the episode Babylon and his S10 transphobic quip.

Representation matters, especially in a show so bare of minorities with such a dodgy track record. If the show's creative team can listen to and absorb "hey let Mulder and Scully be together on screen" feedback and address that while choosing not to tackle the trickier but more "real life" important issues like "enough with the Muslim stereotypes", then it makes me a sad, mad kinda fan.

I get that ratings are a priority and sex sells and yes, I'm starved and I'm so here for it, but given the current climate and the available platform, not making fundamental human rights another priority, to include them and then fall over and again into the same shitty cliches and jokes, reducing whole movements, issues to a footnote "lol" feels so wrong. Yeah, it's great that your stars took a knee, but I wish someone, somewhere would have taken a moment to say "hey, you know how this was god-awful last season, it still sucks. Maybe let's leave the "hilarious" drones blew up this Arab wedding joke on the discard pile next to the one about how hilarious it is that the government lets people legally buy military grade guns so they can shoot more schoolkids faster."
