Hello everyone! I’m coming at you on behalf of my discord server, The Language Accountability Project, which is not only seeking new members but also new moderators. I started this discord server shortly before I started college, and it’s a beautiful community. The caveat is there’s a lot to learn in a language, and I had big ideas for the server--as did the other mods--but it’s a big task for anyone to take on without a sizable team. Even our members find themselves too busy to actively participate, which is why we are also, as always, looking for more to join. There’s no application for that, so head on in!
The mission statement of LAP is pretty simple: hold yourself accountable in your language learning process so that you can further your abilities, no matter what your goals are. We have a lot of language channels and add more whenever requested. You don’t have to be active at all times, but it’s a nice place to practice with like-minded people.
The time commitment for this isn’t extraordinary. The entire server’s traffic ebbs and slows with the busy and slow times of school and the year. At the most, you would probably be working an hour a week to come up with challenges, moderate the community, and work on your own language goals. But that’s at absolute most, and it isn’t going to be a constant demand.
In total, I’m looking for about the same amount of moderators (major shout-out to my former moderators and the time they gave when they were still about to), or slightly larger. So depending on the volume of applications, I will select somewhere between 3 and 7 total moderators. If there are enough individuals I select, moderators may be split into sub-roles so you only have to focus on a couple of responsibilities max.
If you are interested in being a moderator, please check out the application form and consider submitting. Because I’ll be traveling for the holidays, and I’m sure everyone else is busy too, applications will close January 10, 2020 and I will contact the selected moderators on January 20, 2020.
Regardless of whether you’re applying, reblogs are appreciated to spread the word! If you have any questions you don’t want to direct into the form, asks are always appreciated.
