SHE'S TWELVE STAY AWAY FROM HER: the witch hat atelier experience
tsunade and orochimaru
chapter 163
obviously he was lying about not destroying konoha, but he does look genuinely shocked that she'd try to kill him, plus he seems regretful that she didn't take up his offer (though that might be more of an efficiency thing)
witch hat atelier effectively uses dialect work to convey character information by making members of the secretive society gatekeeping advanced technology you have to be born into to access british while regular people are american
just remembered charles leclerc's garage calls him principessa. is this the real life.

tumblr needs a bookmarks system that's not just saving all the posts i wanna look at later to drafts
wait a sec guardian is about ALIENS????
i'm still going back and forth on whether or not i actually like the wha dub dialect decisions.... like on one hand i do enjoy the representation plus it's a good way to subtly convey information plus it's just fun. on the other, i don't know how i feel about the specific choices they make?
like, what i keep going back to is how non-witches are all Stereotypical North American while witches are (so far) different parts of the uk (and one from denmark ig). to me, that just already feels like a very american pov of english, which kinda throws me out. like, it's maybe a bit too on the nose i think? oh sure, the relatable protagonist entering a new world is american, the witches from Witch HQ use rp, the witches on that other island are irish, the witches from a northern region are northern english. it does make sense ig, but also, maybe, a bit stereotyping (mostly i am looking at the 'magic otherworlders speaking rp english' trope in thinly veiled annoyance). at what point does it go beyond a shortcut for conveying information? idk
i think what i'd have also liked is an equivalent dialect diversity for the nonmagical characters. if you're gonna imply that the witches are developing separate dialects in different areas then the non-witches should get to do that too!! make tartah's non-magical friends speak like long islanders or something, idk! well ok that's totally not the american equivalent of ireland and only ambiguously an island, but whatever we can workshop this. like, even from a doylist perspective giving the witches (relatively) thought-out accents and the non-witches the Same Accent no matter what flattens the latter and makes them seem less fleshed out as a group. which contradicts the themes of the story!!
i'm also really curious for how they'll do the rest of the um. provinces(?? forgot what they're called) in the kingdom. what i expect: more parts of the uk. perhaps australia or even nz. what i hope: pls crunchyroll do you know more than five countries have native english speakers. no crunchyroll please come back indian singaporean south african nigerian jamaican etc etc etc english deserve love people are native speakers there too those dialects aren't indicative of lesser ability come back !!!!
